Everyone here is missing the point (Less Dres).
Friz is trying to promote an active corp that is of use to someone and engenders it's self to new members in order for the corp to continue growing
I do sympatise with people saying I'm inactive for reason X or Y, given that I just spent 2 1/2 months AFK, and now have a full social life because I'm back, but how does that help the corp? Or the alliance? Most corps in eve have this policy of your either active and helping, or your not and you start chalking up black marks against your name. 5punkorp has long been berief of that rule because the vast majority have always gone, but I like 5punkorp the way it is. And that's sorta ok, except for the aformentioned lack of use to an alliance.
Getting new members in, as Friz said, isn't going to help the problem. They join, see a corp that's 90% slackers/inactives, and either slack themselves (I've done it, F4T4L) or leave (Seen it happen, BS.I). In either case, this doesn't help the corp, and the vast majority of the time just makes the problem worse. Leaving a corp and starting over, even if it's just the same people in a new corp, has a very rejeuvinating effect. You change the ground rules, have a nice new focus, and get a clean slate to get things right with.
Some of you might remeber my little speach back in march in corp chat about how you go about reviving a dying corp. We tried that, iirc, and it didn't seem to work all that well.
End of the day, this is a game, and everyone who plays it, even CEOs should remeber it's intended to be fun. If your not getting some kick from this, you need a change of scenary (Be it a break from eve, a new corp, or leaving eve completly).
I'm not trying to tell you your all wrong with your opinions, just that your miss-intrepting how Friz's post was ment. In reality, if Friz, Rabbit, Jimmy and Dres (Apoligies if I've missed people who are good and properly active, I'm not online enough to judge these things) all left today, and forumed Uber-5punk (for lack of a better name), what difference would it make to your mission running?
