They've sucked your brains with their inflated pricing structure, I should not have to buy games I already own, but to get the 3 new ones it seems I have to, the black box should be available for this reason.

Besides, I'm sure Ep 1 wasn't $30 when it first came out, and wasn't Portal supposed to be a proof of concept like Lost Coast?

I haven't bought yet but will have to if this is the only option before launch :(

I reckon they'll be available separately on steam nearer the time.

However, I was quite happy to pay £15 for ep1, I have no issues paying £25 for ep2 (which is longer) and a pair of other games* I'm interested in.

Personally, I see the HL2/Ep1 with the orange box as a good sales move by steam.

I'll give those to someone, they'll play them, if they like those games, it's likely they'll buy the rest of the HL2 series (and will then have steam installed, and will be likely to impulse buy crap :))

*I think portal is a few hour long tech demo thing

1) Episode 2 is supposedly longer, and it contains more shiny. Episode 1 was $20.
2) No, Portal is a full game in its own right, though I suspect it won't be more than 6 hours long.
3) OMFG TF2

Moar infos!
How much will it cost?
Half-Life 2 Orange Box will cost $50 for the PC and $60 for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Half-Life 2: Episode Two's price on its own through Steam will probably be $20 while the bundle including Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Team Fortress 2 and Portal will probably cost $40. The prices are in United States dollars.

Of course, it can safely be assumed that a pre-purchase of the game through Steam will have the usual 10% discount. Another discount (i.e. for other game owners) is improbable.

I went for the orange box at £26.

They may bundle some combination of TF2, Ep2 and Portal later on, but at £17.33 and £11.54 individually, the OB deal looks good if you want any two.

Small discount and TF2 beta if ordered before Oct 10th helps, too. Peggle Extreme doesn't so much.

Free stuff I've already bought/don't want/can't use from Valve? I'm kind of used to it, with at least two copies of HL, OF and CZ already.

I bought the iD mega pack mostly for convenience, as I have boxed copies of pretty much everything from Doom onwards scattered around somewhere.

I didn't really like it. Not because I failed on the second level, oh no.

Something for bored work moments, like most PopCap games.

It reminded me a lot of the minigame in Shenmue II, which is a simplified version of the precursor to pinball, bagatelle. It probably has a proper name, it was called "Lucky Shot" in the game.

Lots of "oooh, ahh..don't go that way" moments, although this new one feels a bit sped-up.

One of the special moves (I think) in Shenmue II was only available through that game - I loved the way you could tell the board was a bastard just by walking up to it. I don't like to think of how many hours and capsule figures I went through, but it's still (in it's entirety) one of the most profound gaming experiences I've had.
