Worth a look, although it only searches online stores, not ebay. Has some people who I'd buy from (dabs, amazon, misco), some I definately wouldn't (ebuyer), and doesn't have some who could be cheaper (overclockers).pixie pie wrote:If you want to find somewhere cheap, but don't want to go to lots of different places:

Also the search is a little wooly - Nvidia 6600 came up with everything from GeForce 6800's to Nokia 6600's.

I bought a separate PSU for it, 'cos I wasn't sure the 12v ones I had could handle 1A - it didn't come with it own PSU.
I don't know about running it off your PC, presumably 12Vx1A means it requires 12W above what you're already using, but I don't know if that's right.
The only testimonies I had when posting about buying from ebuyer were from two friends who had both had terrible experiences - one had to wait 6 months to get an incorrect item replaced. I am of course pleased you guys haven't had trouble with them.

I've tried XFire on it - it's a bit blurry, but you can just about read it - I don't use it much in-game though. It's sort of a "drill-a-hole-in-the-fridge-door-to-check-the-light-goes-out" thing - you can see what game it thinks you are playing without switching out.spoodie wrote:I was thinking it would be useful for xfire and teamspeak, would these look any good on that little screen? What are you using it for?
I tend to put download windows in it, the Intel Active monitor (temp and fan speed) or Konfabulator widgets (clock, processor %, memory, etc) - I find it's best application is stuff that's quite large and clear and that you only need to read, not interact with, as clicking on stuff in that window switches you out of games, etc.

Then go back and look at your non-problematic dealings with Ebuyer.Jinxx wrote:I'd like to revise my "this" on this. I had a monitor stolen in transit and they were utterly fucking rubbish at refunding my coins - took two weeks to get any sense out of them.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:if you don't use ebuyer, you're a fool.
i've never had a problem with them.
Then consider that most, if not all online shops say that you have to wait 2 weeks for an item to fail to appear before them taking action - This is because a lot of people either get out of their tree after an item being a day late, or deny recieving the item in hope they'll get a refund.
Also, you have to take the fact ebuyer is trying to get sense out of a parcel company into account and we all know how easy that is.
There was a great deal of this. They didn't have the item in stock, but marked it as dispatched, then got a 3rd party company to ship one directly to me.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:Also, you have to take the fact ebuyer is trying to get sense out of a parcel company into account and we all know how easy that is.
The route was eBuyer -> Computer2000 -> TNT -> CityLink -> Me
The item went missing when it was in the custody of TNT.
Eventually, I made good use of my overdraft and one of Dell's random discounts.
thats what i use my 15inch tft for. I play games on the 17 inch whilst films, music or internet explore runs on the 15incher. Im never gonna go back to a single monitor ever again 2 is the best.FatherJack wrote:I tend to put download windows in it, the Intel Active monitor (temp and fan speed) or Konfabulator widgets (clock, processor %, memory, etc) - I find it's best application is stuff that's quite large and clear and that you only need to read, not interact with, as clicking on stuff in that window switches you out of games, etc.
Ive got a 7800 and it has two dvi?? outputs i think. Both monitors plug into the back of that although the vga from the 15 is adapted to fit. Does anyone know if its possible to use a HDTV as a monitor and what resolutions can be expected?

Someone mentioned on TS (which I also use that window for) tonight that having another monitor uses a higher proportion of your video card's RAM.
The svideo output I use for the mini LCD may not be succeptible to this, as I have never experienced an appreciable degradation, but it something worth considering.

Tha'd be me - CoV runs like a dog when my second screen is turned on. Not tried any other games with the dual setup since I upgraded. I'll do some investimigating later on tonight.FatherJack wrote:Someone mentioned on TS (which I also use that window for) tonight that having another monitor uses a higher proportion of your video card's RAM.

I've never really thought about this performance issue before with a second monitor.
When you say turn the monitor off, do you mean the physical power of the monitor, or going into display properties and doing it there?
If I turn a secondary screen off whilst playing a game, surely it will still be displaying the secondary screen, it's just you can;t see it
Or, do you have to have the screen turned off when you "boot" xp, so it knows it's not there, as opposed to turning it off when already booted?
*confuzzled but intrigued*
