I've come to the conclusion that you're right, I am shit at driving tanks. Or rather, I can never spot anyone to shoot them, when I do the puny blast radius never kills them anyway, and I seem to spend 90% of my time reloading. I'll stick to killing them on foot. I do seem a bit more comfortable in helis than I did in BEEF, and while I can fly quite nicely I still can't hit a donkey in the arse with a banjo.
I tend to find the rockets dip alarmingly quite late in their flight, so I aim for an overshoot and tend to get the rocket strikes. I fly too low though so every fucker shoots me down, or I park the heli into a flag pole.
With tanks a good gunner saves a lot of deaths by spotting and dealing with the close in infantry. Even if they can't see much to shoot at because of the main gun. Try taking Pnut into battle with you, he keeps you alive a lot longer.
Also I found turning down the brightness helped massively, it's just too damn hdr to see anything on the pissy little viewer.
And my inherent paranoia makes me check C a lot in case there's a c4 ninja nearby, I know how easy it is to mortard or c4 a tank/ifv if it just sits still for a few seconds.
Couple of things about kiling armour I've picked up on today; hitting them in the turret does seem to work better, there seems to be some sort of way to one-shot tanks with RPG-7s, and as a machinegunner spamming tanks with .50 kills any assisting engineers or escaping crew.
I'm going to do some more research into this RPG thing.
RPG + Better explosives load out + tracer dart = almost 1 hit kill
Bit too easy like that really, I like a challenge of dodging round buildings with an AT4 on my shoulder trying to not catch a supersonic lump of metal to the chops.

Maybe the ye olde bf2 method of shooting the part where the turret joins the main body of the tank
The AT4 does more damage than the RPG I think, although I've not tested it and I don't know if the tagger puts it higher. Hitting them in the turret ring doesn't have any effect, we've tested that. Just does turret damage. It is possible that there are 'soft spots' like the vents on the upper rear of the tanks in BF2.
I've not found any mention of exploits when I've google it, but I have found a few mentions of engineers reporting random one-shot kills, so that would back that up. I may have got one myself today, but I don't know if it was just already damaged.
Nope. I was looking more at tank armour values and where to hit them to maximise damage. I suspect the armour mod adds 25%, as that's what the infantry one does, but I may go off and do more experiments.
What location is that? A side or rear hit on an IFV with an AT4 should take off about 67 anyway, so it's not much of a bonus. If it's the front that's a double damage hit, which combined with a hit on the side or rear with an AT4 would give you a one-shot (ie 4x damage).
I shot it in the front then closed in for the kill with the torque wrench, as I got close it showed about two thirds of the health had gone, I didn't see anyone else hit it with anything, possibly they did though.
The mbt - I was on a hill chasing base rapers in the atacama desert map, they stole one tank and started to shoot the other tank with it, so I popped it in the arse with an AT4 and it fell apart.
Did you have the explosives mod on? If so that would add up; hitting an MBT in the rear does double damage, which for an AT4 is 67. If the explosives mod doubles your damage then that's a one-shot, even if they have the armour mod.
It's likely I did. It does seem quite random and a bit poo that you can sometimes kill an mbt in one shot, I know they need to make it so they're not OP, but a little more survivability would be useful.

Or you know you can have the tank driver not expose weak armor so much. That would be a good idea.
