Won't that figure be less since his Gcard is 2gb?

Yes. 32 bit systems can only address 4GB of total memory, across RAM, GFX, CPU Cache, etc. There is a technology named Physical Address Extension that will allow more, but it's an expensive way to address memory.

Oh yeah, he'll probably see around 2.7gb then, I think the 4870x2 is only seen as 1gb to the system since it's 1gb per core and the data is just duplicated.

ah, OK then. Pretty essential is what you mean.

I've messaged OCUK to change the order. they've held it anyway pending receipt of some documentation to prove that I'm a serious and legitimate gamer and not intent on exporting their technology to Iran or North Korea or something. Probably.

Ta.

/edit. I'mactually surprised that they would even offer an OS incompatible with the hardware (I ordered a system with OS) but there you go.

It's totally compatible, just not ideal.

The system I ordered came with 6GB ram included, which was what I meant by incompatible, if Fista 32 can only support / address 4. Anyway, still waiting to hear from them, no drama I'm sure.

and I worked out what the thing is with 64 bit Fista that is a problem for me; the scheduling software I use at work is based on an 8 bit (I think) database dating back to the 80s and apparently won't run on 64 bit Fista. Doesn't matter as it runs just fine on my XP lappy and I loath working from home anyway.

surely you can build that cheaper yourself...

Those specs are good if you don't plan on going beyond 1680x1050 and no AA pretty much.

Also, could have at least included a copy of Windoze.
