Man in crowd wrote:You'd probably call them a gang. They live in the lower levels and come up here stealing and causing trouble. Some people say they're cannibals, but I dunno.
The body has had the lower part of her face removed, and appears to be sporting a large, scorched, stab wound.

So what do you guys think, stake out the area around the lower levels or just dive in.

Man in crowd wrote:I dunno, never seen one. I hear they're like savages though, or like cannibals. Living all the way down there it's not surprising.
From what you know of Lower Downtown, anything below roughly the level you're on is likely to be dangerous, inhabited by carnivorous pigs and carriens, or worse. Any people living down there aren't likely to be typical Downtowners.

Not much use trying to hide in the sewer unless it's one of the large ones. Sneaking might be OK, but unless we start picking up any contacts on my radar/motion detector there's no need to sneak.

Right, I guess it's into the sewers. I'll go in with my UV torch and vision on, as well as all my helmet gizmos.

You can hear the roar of an APC's engine echoing through the tunnel.

:shudder: I'll head towards the sound, though something tells me it's a really bad idea. I'll ready my AR, on single fire.

A battered and dirty Shiver APC emerges from the darkness, spotlights panning around.

The side door of the APC opens and a Shiver steps out.

My name is Deject, and this is Phoebe and Grimme. We're with squad Five Punk, on a BPN. We're tracking a killer, or something that turns people into killers, and it's lead us down here. Are you guys on patrol down here? Notice anything really odd or creepy?

Ah, this case is rather bizarre. As far as we can tell, the "killer" stalks and chooses the victim obsessively, then attacks, but instead of killing the target, it's like they transfer the murderous intent to the victim after cutting a grin into their face. The "victim" then kills the attacker. I'm trying not to think too hard about it because it is just confusing to me.

We were hot on the trail of the latest "victim" but I think she may have already transferred whatever is causing this to another because I think she's the body up by the sewer entrance we came in. Some of the people who were looking at the body mentioned something about "Subterraneans" so I wanted to check out the sewers for anything that might look connected to all this.

The Shiver starts walking towards the body.
Sleeper Shiver wrote:I heard of some murders like that. Weird. Explains why you guys are here though.
The crowd moves away from him as he approaches and start to leave. He looks down at the body.
Sleeper Shiver wrote:Nasty. Doesn't look like she's from this level. Must have come from higher up. If you're looking for the Subterraneans you'll have to head down to about level 20. We don't go down that far, but we've got partial maps of the area. Some Ops went down there about a year ago. One came back. Locals reckon they're cannibals, but I don't think so.
He crouches down and pulls a MAC knife from a maghold on his thigh. Using the tip, he moves the clothing aside around the stab wound.
Sleeper Shiver wrote:Yeah. Looks like The Subterraneans. They use weird improvised weapons, like Scavs. They ain't as clever as Scavs though.
He stands up and looks back at you.
Sleeper Shiver wrote:Five Punk. I know that name. You know an old sergeant called Murdoch?

He's still alive? That's good to know. He was one hell of a resourceful guy. I did wonder what happened to him.
