You sure he wasn't playing the single player? The first bit of that is during the civil war.
but there could be some maps in the trenches though.

It was single player, I was answering the bit about the "western" setting. I tend to think Cowboys vs. Indians, Mysterious Stranger vs. Whole Town of Bandits and Prostitutes Pretending To Be Nuns when imagining a western theme, so it was kind of a good surprise to see something a bit different.

I guess it's obvious I haven't seen that many westerns.

Well, it's only in the very beginning really, after that you fight indians and Mexicans, get in trouble over a Sheriff's daughter and shoot bandits for money. So no difference there.

i think I really should do a full review.

Space Siege

Doesn't crash. Gameplay is pretty boring, and there is no real sense of character progression. Graphics are kinda ugly. Storytelling is from 2001. If you need a distraction and can get it for free there are worse things to spend your time on, but it's not worth spending money on. 4.5/10

and no I didn't really spend money on it, got it with my Alpha Protocol pre-purchase. You might as well save yourself the download and leave the $50/£25 in your bank account until Alpha Protocol is released.

Scratch that, the storytelling is from 1998.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Fluid combat, good storytelling (keeps nicely to the original comics), plenty of cool as fuck moments. Lots to unlock, challenge mode is fun. Voice acting is really good with Mark Hamill as joker (who has previously voiced him in the animated series)

However, short storyline (about 10-12 hours on normal) and boss fights can be a little irritating and samey.

But overall great game, lots of riddles and challenges to keep you amused after completing (you can still run about the island after) and definitely worth a play through.
Plus it's the goddamn batman.

Apparently the swept version on the pc has glide disabled, as an innovative form of copy protection :o

Also, i've stuck it up on ebay now I've completed it if anyone would like it: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0456855767

Of course as a 5punky extra i'd send it first class recorded. ;)

The sweepable apparently possesses an area that needs to be glided that's filled with poisonous fog as well so you're fucked.

And some numpty asked about it on the forums before the pc version was even released.

Burnout Paradise - PC

Very silly racing game in a free roaming city. Doesn't like to spoil your fun with silly things like braking or realistic physics - think more Trackmania (airborne cars) meets Flatout (massive auto carnage) meets GTA (open city, great music).

Everything you ever wanted to do in a racing game but couldn't, while singing "Hey hey, you you, I don't like your girlfriend!"

Hmmm... I don't like racing games usually but this does sound rather fun, and I really like trackmania. I'll give it a go.

Yes. I've not tried it, but there looks to be a few different modes, and a guy I know with the 360 version tells me you can jump in and out of other peoples' cities to fanny about or race them. You have to get EA Downloader to use it though, which is a bit fail.

Also just found out that if you leave it alone it starts playing classical music and showing peaceful panning shots of cars pootling about their daily business. Completely hatstand.

I believe there's a demo somewhere.

Good enough for me, I always liked burnouts, but can never really be arsed with consoles.

£20 on steam, which'll do.

Just remember to blink every now and then.

I may well pick this up too, always enjoyed the series.

It's only £20? Hmm. I could go for that, but I'll need a control pad too. Playing the demo with a keyboard is a bit painful.

I was thinking I would try my 360 wireless pad with the play and charge thing you can get, it connects via the usb so hopefully it'll work on the pc as well as a wired version.

I used my PS3 controller, which needs a bit of fettling to get it to work, but it does work rather well.
Furthermore it's a damn nice game, and I don't think I'll ever get bored of the crashes.
I did think it is rather eery that none of the cars have any drivers in it and that your motorcycle driver simply disappears when you crash it though.
