If you noticed lag earlier, I think that was my fault (due to my fool proof water pumps seemingly failing (or my combustion engines carrying on when no-one was around and without the water pumps)) so my engines, coal, and matter generators all blew up leaving a shitload of stuff lying around. I've hoovered it all up so it's now a bit happier and I have decided to leave that alone and focus on writing rude words instead.

Not sure how well it will do. There has been a clone out for ages on XBL, with added features and it looked pretty nifty. People might struggle to see the benefit of MC.

I'm sure there's been several clones, some of them quite polished. But the official version is being promoted, which I doubt the others were, so that should help. One of the main problems, especially for Minecraft veterans, is that it's an old version of the game. Beta 1.6.6 when compared to the PC. And one of the advantages is that it doesn't run on Java.

There are an unbelievable number of blatant clones in the indie section of XBLA, so this with a price tag of 1600 MS Points (2000 are £17) might struggle - but I didn't even know about the indie section until yesterday, whereas Minecraft is all over the Home screen.

I played the demo with friend, and while it's time limited and has a lot of nag screens pop up, you can do two-player split screen and have a few prebuilt areas to explore. It is pretty polished, the most notable feature being the crafting system overhaul, which works a bit like the Crafting Bench 2, where you don't need to know the layouts, just have the mats - and it also has categories where you can view all the possible items you can craft and what you need to find. It is a pretty old version and I found it a bit hard to remember what was actually present at various stages - you can still punch sheep to get wool, there's no hunger bar, but wolves are present.

I had kind of forgotten that the way we play Minecraft cooperatively is at odds with how most other games are played, and as I proudly flipped through my inventory showing off my newly-fashioned set of stone tools, my new-to-Minecraft friend ran me through with a wooden sword and nicked the lot of them.

Minecraft on the 360 sold over a million copies during launch week. So it did well, even if interest now drops off.

Something I found most refreshing about it is the getting back to basics, despite being one of those veterans I mentioned. I was quite happy to start building a small castle from basic blocks. Although I really haven't played it much and not sure I will.

Good to hear it's done well. What was also nice was to see how quickly my friend got into it, after what were only a couple of 40 minute (I think) plays, one solo, one MP.

It has a tutorial, which helps, plus the new crafting system, but it wasn't long from "WTF? It looks like shit" to "Wheee! I caught a fish!" then "Hmm, I just gotta finish this house..ooh, can I make a door and windows?"

The multiplayer split screen is a thing of genius, it like instantly you're doing your own Yogcast (screaming optional). We discovered a village and nicked the beds, rode a minecart to a castle, got completely lost in the dark and found a tower, bricked up each other in our houses, got locked in a room with a zombie, got bummed by spiders and punched creepers at each other until the town was in ruins. Not bad for a demo.

Haha, that last kill especially had me laughing. A 5punky version would be very funny.

I do like how despite having no clue and totally winging it, Simon and Lewis came out on top due to that lucky TNT trap.

The video for Gamechap and Bertie is amazing though, they seem to do all their videos in that style, which is intense.

I'm at a bit of a loose end tonight. Reckon we can get eight of us together for this?
