I had a look at that case, the rear fan is an intake rather than an exhaust, so the cpu fan should be facing the rear fan so the air blows directly through.

Either the case is on it's head, or the mobo is upside down.

Yup, it's one of the cases that has the mobo tray in the other side and upside down, slightly better for gpu cooling etc (though not so great for some heatpiped mobos)

also makes sense in that the PSU and HDDs are isolated from the main machine.

The CPU fan seems to be blowing against a solid plate, though - or if there's a hole there, the PSU. Perhaps it's just the angle of the pic.

I reckon it's blowing against a solid plate. Not ideal but if the air flow is sufficient and the CPU is not overclocked the huge Zalman heatsink should be enough. Those Zalmans do a good job. Presumably the heatsink can't be rotated, that'd be ideal?

I've got the same one, but in black and it goes front-to-back. Maybe that's just how the fittings are in that case/mobo.

Yeah, the heat sink is quite holey, so I guess the fan just pushes the hot air out between the metal blades.

it should be mounted the other way, but I doubt it's running too hot anyways.

It's mounted that way because it wouldn't fit using the "correct" orientation; there is about a 3/8 of an inch or so overhang pass the motherboard. The motherboard is more or less flush against that divider so either I returned it, or just mount the heatsink in that orientation.

I was thinking more along the lines of switching to watercooling. That'll be in the next build. I originally had an Antec 900, so most of this is was brought along from that case.

I've got one in the same colour, do I win? Thinking about I may have fitted mine the wrong way around. Not that it really matters as it doesn't get nearly hot enough to cause a problem whatever I'm running.

Those 24" OCUK specials might be cheapy, but mine's doing great. Unlike the Fujitsu Siemens replacement second monitor I bought after my rather good Philips went pop. Shite resolution and a stuck pixel.
