Has Granny Moescher buggered off again?
I'll have a wonder around camp to see if I can find her...

She does appear to have done. You and a bunch of other notables look around the camp but she's nowhere to be found. One of the guards is trying to quiz the children, but he's tired and grumpy and is only making them more upset.

Amsteville steps in and speaks to one of the older children in his reassuring baritone. Eventually he gets some sense out of the child.
Child wrote:Granny Mo's been funny all day. Since we were stopped by the broken carts to rest the oxen. She cried. I saw her! She said it was just dust, but I know it weren't true. She was crying about Fahndorf. She said it was soldiers what did the burnin' but it was Graf Sternhaur who had bloody hands. She said lots of bad words. She said what's power for if you don't use it. I heard her say it, and then she was all scary looking. Like when Captain Schiller chopped up that Beastman who killed Frau Becker.

Nobody interested? Capt Schiller starts organising a few volunteers to search the surrounding woods. Most of the refugees are too tired or scared, but a few of the younger men offer.

I've been a bit distracted this week, I'll pick up with Alice at the weekend if you could auto her a bit longer if anyone else is going.

Sorry FJ, of course. Also I think Joose is on holiday. Shall we just chill for a week or so and reconvene, or make Buzz do it?

I was hanging on a bit as I thought both FJ and Joose were on hols and I didn't want to progress it all on my lonesome.

Quite right Buzz, not a problem. I was trying to stop things stalling but I wasn't thinking that there was only one party member available to play at the moment.

Alice tries to get the Captain's attention.
Alice wrote:Me! Me! Pick me!
She's fidgeting from one foot to the other with her hand up in the air as if she's trying to ask teacher if she can go to the privvy.

Capt Schiller wrote:Yes, good, bring your friends.
You search the immediate vicinity for half an hour or so but turn up nothing. You can make Outdoor Survival rolls if you like to try to pick up the tracks (slim chance I know).

I don't have the skill checked as 'taken' so I don't know if I can, or what I'm aiming for:
Roll(1d100)+0:
52,+0
Total:52

You just use your stat halved for the difficulty.

Go on then.
Outdoor Survival (int) = 32 / 2 = target of 16:
Roll(1d100)+0:
34,+0
Total:34

You search a little longer but in the darkness of the forest at night you don't have a hope of seeing anything. In the morning Capt Schiller approaches you and thanks you for your help last night.
Captain Schiller wrote:My friends, the caravan must push on. We are not far from Middenheim now, but supplies are almost gone and there is no telling what lurks in the forest. We need Granny Moescher, though. She's the best healer we have, and we owe it to her to help if she's in trouble. You found her last time she vanished, and you were with us at the crossroads. Can you think of anything which might help find her?

Captain Schiller wrote:Yes. She didn't seem quite the same after the crossroads. I assumed it was all the death, but you could be right. It's only a few hours away, could you see if she's there? I'm sorry to put upon you again, but I need to get these people moving to reach the city before nightfall.

Larandar wrote:Well, suppose I could do. Probably safer than having a bunch of children crying out in the night and making it obvious where we are.
Anyone else coming along or am I travelling alone?

Alice puts on her adventuring breeches and mimes a series of exaggerated "adventuring moves". Marching bravely, looking out for danger, viciously stabbing enemies to death and some rather rude ones directed at the pretend slain enemies.
Alice wrote:Anyone else?
She attempts a series of heroic poses.
