They do and it is. However, it's triple cash today which effectively makes everything 66% off.

I'm still playing this, managed to total my maggie today - magburned over a ridge, got a bit of air, hit a branch... when I had stopped swearing it was really quite amusing.

I flip my maggies far too often. It's more fun with a passenger.

The bolt action rifle for the infiltrator is half cashmoney today. 125 is a good price if you have any to spend.

The ghost is a decent sniper rifle if you are a decent shot, I have seen some ridiculously good snipers out there with these things. If you are like me though, best off trying to get the killing shot - pick on somebody who is already injured.

New patch out next week (hopefully) has some nice stuff:

Account-wide unlocks. Everything you've bought with cashmoney works for all applicable characters. About time really.
Cloaking (for infiltrators) and a passenger seat for the Flash ATB.
VR training. Practice your flying without getting shot at.
Infantry splash damage reduced for all vehicles. Bit of a shitter if you've bought the HE weapons for some vehicles, but I can live with that. In fact I think the resource counters have been reduced too, because there seems to be a lot less tanks around.
Magriders are floaty again! Not the mountain goats they used to be, but better than they have been. Other tanks have had a torque upgrade too to lessen the slow down from climbing hills.

War Stories

The Crown. A fortress of natural defences with an outpost capable of producing armour and air power and armed with flak cannons and artillery. It can only be attacked from two directions, one horses the attackers up a steep and winding narrow cliff path, the other up a steep hill surrounded by rocky outcrops - perfect for ambushes.
For some weeks now the place has been held by the Terrans, holding off against attacks from both Vanu and Redneck-hick-hillbilly-yeehaw-bastards - I've been part of those assaults, I know how hard it is to take the crown but tonight we are going to try anyway.
The Crossroads, an unassuming outpost relatively uncontested at most times, the VS have just captured it giving us a better attacking position against the crown. None of us dare hope that we will actually take it, at most we will cap some territory around it but be driven off the prize as usual.
I zip my maggie down to TI Alloys, from here it is a quick trip across a bridge before facing the gauntlet up to the front door of the Crown's outpost.
TI Alloys looks all tied up, Pants and Pete are in there capturing along with a lot more Vanu, I decide to have a look and see what the defences are like over the bridge. It doesn't take me too long to get there, switching to IRNV every now and then to check for mines - the way is clear. Now I am faced with the approach, many attacks have stopped here as mines and AT in the rocks have torn apart armour so I am understandable cautious.
The way seems clear, no sign of mines and no other sign of TR occupation, could they have abandoned it in the confidence that nobody would even attempt to take it?
I reach the brow of the hill safely, I am a quick dash away from the entrance when the first shell hits the front of my tank. I look around quickly expecting to find some sneaky bastard with a rocket launcher and look right down the twin barrell of a TR Prowler.
Shit.
Normally the Prowler and the Magrider are evenly matched, the Vanu tank being able to out manouvre the TR in most situations but a good TR gunner knows where the VS is going to be and place both rounds in the place where you are very shortly going to be, a good Vanu driver will use his speed boost to his advantage and try to zip past the rotating turret of the prowler and shoot him in the arse.
I have nowhere to zip to, the rocky outcrops still cover the back of my tank preventing any kind of ballet tricks - my only option is down again and damned if I climbed all this way for that. I draw a bead on the TR, fire, hit. I retreat back quickly enough to avoid his next salvo, poke my nose forward again, fire, hit. These buggers are very well armoured compared to my maggie and failing to dodge his next round of shells my tank is on the verge of being ripped to pieces. I bail out, right into the sights of the secondary gunner of the prowler who makes mincemeat of me before getting out and repairing what little damage I managed to do.
So much for not giving up the ground I had covered.
Respawn as Light Assault at a friendly sunderer who has parked nearby whilst I was being ripped to bits, there are quite a few more VS here now looks like we are going to try and take this.
Using my jet packs I climb the rocks trying to keep out of sight of the prowler and other TR who are now spawning here. After a couple of deaths to various things I manage to get to the top and make my way to one of the capture points. C has already been taken by the time I get there so I decide to jetpack up to the balcony level of the outpost, hoping to catch some folks unaware and cause bother for them from the inside. I'm In! I'm dead!
Bollocks
Someone spotted me and I start all over again.
Finally I make it into the base, Pete and Pants are down the hill somewhere I don't know where, I don't care I am here to cause problems for the TR and hamper their defence.
I can't find many TR.
This is the thing about The Crown, it can be held by only a handful of organised people. I see a few, I managed to kill some before I jet off to the top level of the outpost.
Downstairs things are not looking good, the attack is petering out. Seems our horses split at TI Alloys and people are deciding that this is a Bad Idea and either logging off or going elsewhere.
Pants logs off.
This is not a bad thing as it turns out, this makes me squad leader and I can place a spawn beacon. I do so, at the top of the outpost and Pete drops in as an infiltrator, quickly turning every red terminal into a purple one.
I jetpack about a bit more, I die but I'm able to spawn on my own beacon and carry on.
The attack is almost over, Pete and I are going to be found, the beacon is going to be destroyed and we are probably going to log off.
Would I be writing this up if that had happened?

"Pete look up"
"What?"
"Look up at the sky, the sky!"
"What..hahaha, holy shit"*

The sky is full of Galaxy drop ships, there must be about 20 of them spilling out of the sky and causing mayhem with the TR. Pilots are not giving a shit where they land, most are coming in low and bailing out, it is like something out of a movie where the cavalry arrive at the last minute, I can hear Ride of the Valkyries in my head.
One smacks into the side of the building I am perched on. I decide it's best to get off this spot before I get wiped out by an unpiloted space bus.
I drift over to the TR spawn building which is now under heavy assault. All points are purple and the TR influence over the area is dropping - we might actually do this. I get mown down again by a MAX suit, but thankfully there is a friendly sunderer on top of the hill now and I am back a minute later.
Five minutes and some jetpacking and shooting later and it is all over, The Crown belongs the the Vanu. Fuck the TR, fuck the Redneck-hick-hillbilly-yeehaw-bastards. It's ours.
Fifteen minutes later an armoured TR column is halfway up the hill trying to retake it. They probably will, but for now it is ours and they are pissed.

*Or something along those lines, proably with more swearing

Haha, awesome. I'm annoyed I missed that, but it was 2:30 in the morning and I didn't think dying repeatedly on the slopes of The Crown was worth getting a bollocking for. Oh the irony.

It was hard fought and there were a couple of times we thought it had slipped away as Anery said. I was screaming back across in a lightning to try and bring some extra firepower to bear when Anery told me to look up. Gutted I forgot to take a screenie, I actually stopped my tank and hopped out to look at a sky full of air support. I arrived as the first few galaxies started to crash into the tower and the broken ground around it. We smashed them out the crown and held it against wave after wave of counter attack. An awesome display of co-ordination that shows people were actually listening to the commanders calling for the push.

And the best bit is it was 5punkers who took the risk, made the decision to push and made the first breaches in the defence!

I've often found it's 5punkers making suicidal rushes to break a stalemate. I think a lot of people are happy to sit back and wait for the action to move on. I did get a screenshot of the awesome vertical Sunderer deployment though.

Anyone who subscribes will find out on their own, and I doubt anyone will buy a copy just for this, but PCG are giving away a gamer's starter pack this month. That's:

1 day squad XP boost
7 day resource boost
7 day xp boost
Chrome wings hood ornament
Liberator lightning glass decal

The first two aren't really very useful, especially if it starts when you enter the code, and the xp boost will probably just help bag a few more certs, but that garish hood ornament will look fabulous on my lilac Sunderer.

EDIT: The boosts can be used whenever you want. And the ornament does look fabulous.

We had some organisation, top level orders, on Esamir tonight and were giving a good fight. The map was pretty much split three ways. I tagged along with some of the easily recognisable RPS guys - they generally use the giraffe camo which makes me shoot at them thinking they're NC - about three Sunderers full of them. Highlights include an artillery battle across a valley as an NC zerg hit our main horse at one of those aircraft tower things, and a lone cavalry charge in a HE equipped lighting, taking the pressure off the defenders (who ultimately lost anyway) by circling the attackers and shelling them. I got three or four kills and about six high speed laps.

RPS are trying to grab people for a big Vanu blob tomorrow night. I'll be hopefully bodding about from about 8:30, but with no voice comms I'll be a tagger along at best. Could be spectacular though if they get a big crowd to rampage the server.
