Hopefully just teething problems. I've had no issues apart from a little lag here and there.

I got my game working with a firmware update to the graphics card, thank fuck. But now I'm in game long enough to notice the rubber banding.

It seems pretty hard to hit things with the stinger. I've killed more tree branches than aircraft.

I've been playing this afternoon and it was going ok until a massive rubber band attack (a Massive Attack tribute group). Strafing seems to make it worse for some reason.

Strange, I've hit most things I aim at. Usually if I miss it's because I'm too close and the missile can't come round in time. Or they've dropped flares. In fact I usually leave it locked for a bit to see if they drop flares, and if they don't send them the good news. I even got a road kill from it earlier, presumably from some poor sap getting flattened by the burning wreckage of his own helicopter.

Can't be that hard to use the stinger, when I jumped in the jets on the 5punker server I was getting mullered by them.

Well, I just suck then. I have managed to shoot down a couple of things, just have to avoid doing it amongst trees.

I love the way the physics works on the dead people, they fall very convincingly. Looks just like when I shoot people in real life.

Anyone had the 3rd person bug? Happened to me in two games, and once it's happened it'll keep happening in the same round.

Basically at some point the camera switches to the kill cam view of your last killer even though you're currently alive and well. Once it put 3rd person onto me though and I could watch myself spaz around in circles. It also disabled all menu keys that time. Funsies.

The M249 with extended mag, grip and red dot sight is still a bastard weapon of awesome. It's probably because me and the gun are from the same country, which gives us a special murder bond.

I need a faster PC and Asus are dragging their heels with a bios update, playing Threef is a bit of a chore.

Edit: Hmm. I can't remap my joystick's Y axis (foward/back) after I deleted all the joystick mapping due to conflicts. Excellent QA work Dice.

It doesn't map my joystick properly either. The trigger and buttons on the top of the stick register all wrong in the config.

I followed this guide to fix the timing out problem. It's early days but I haven't had a disconnect for that reason since then. Some people report needing to disable UPnP in their router too.

1. Press: Windows-button (the one between lAlt and lCtrl) + R, a window should pop up.
2. Write: "services.msc" (without the ") then press enter.
3. In the list of services, scroll down to "UPnP Device Host", click it and press "Stop service".
4. Now do the same thing but with the service "SSDP Discovery".
5. Exit the window and go to control panel-> Network and Internet-> Network and Sharing Centre-> Change advanced sharing settings (to the left)-> Under "network discovery" select to turn off network discovery.
6. SAVE CHANGES

Also, DP, might be good to change the thread title to make this into a general BEEF thread as you made the other server details one.

Also also, I went on the EBS server as I saw some of us there and it did seem like a good server. I'll likely gravitate there before finding a random server.

You can always disable services if you want, although I'm not sure what long term effect that might have. Also, I think we had a regular BEEF thread but this one mutated.

EBS are good blokes generally, although I did see one use the N* word earlier.

There's some really odd choices made with this game regarding unlocks.

Not withstanding the countermeasures, the other vehicle one I've found is tank related. Namely the autoloader.

If you're just starting off in tanks, you can't actually win a straight up tank fight with another tank that uses one. You can't fire fast enough to finish him, even if you shoot first.

I wonder what DICE were playing at.

I've no issue with the countermeasures. They're your first unlock, so give you some survivability. It does make shooting aircraft down with missiles pretty tricky, but without them you'd be a sitting duck. The flares seem to reload in about the same time it takes the Stinger to reload and lock on, so one on one all you can do is suppress a flyer until you run out of ammo. Add another missile or some guns to the mix though and you're really pushing the pilot. Personally I don't fire most of the time, I just get a lock and wait for them to try to evade or drop flares. If they don't do either I then I'll have a go. Eventually most people will have the flares and the SAMs won't be much use. The tank's IR smoke isn't nearly as useful, but works okay as long as you back off behind the smoke. The difference is that if you don't know where the threat is you might not get the smoke between you and them.

I've not encountered the auto-loader yet. Internet nerdrage seems to indicate it does nothing, so it might just be bugged. Internet nerdrage also seemed to speculate before release that without one you'd need to have someone sat in the tank doing nothing but load the shells. Nice work internet, that's the logical conclusion to draw.

I've beaten tanks with autoloaders and I don't got one yet. Here's how - I carried on moving whilst shooting and he kept missing.

And then I didn't drive off on my own without support, I took an engineer and he repaired me.

I could post that same post about you moaning every page of this thread buzz. :P

Ahh, I totally misread the issue with auto-loaders. Yeah, of course it will let you fire faster. That's the point. As Pete said, you don't go toe-to-toe. The same as in BC2 and BF2, which also had them. I've not had chance to try it out yet (damn you 8 player minimum!), but I suspect the tank damage model is more BF2 than BC2 as well, so aiming for weak points should also give you the edge.

Yeah, basically wheels and more importantly the rear of the tank are guaranteed killspots.
