Re: Wars Of Guild 2
Interested...but not until it's had some bedding in time. I've been off MMOs for a while, but would be up for some old school 5punky shenanigans (not that it ever works mind you).
Re: Wars Of Guild 2
Is there a reason why we're on Aurora Glade and not Gunnar's Hold by the way? Having the similarly minded RPS community on the same server as us could lead to some better 5punky interactions with randoms. What's our tie with AG?
EDIT: Also, I created a character under Sprog's direction tonight to play with her. The ugliest ginger human Mesmer you ever saw, complete with afro and clashing outfit.

If I remember right, someone said "Lets go for AG" and everyone said "OK!"Dog Pants wrote:What's our tie with AG?
I don't think we have any particular tie there.
Re: Wars Of Guild 2
Should we move then? I think Thompy's point about GH is a good one.
Re: Wars Of Guild 2
I suggested AG and then to move, so you can blame me for it all
The logic for the choice was pretty loose, going on probably unreliable, small sample, 3rd party census data, but one had to be picked at some point.
I'm happy either way, but I'm on GH atm. I believe free transfers stop this Saturday.

Lets start the migration then. I'm off to bed, I'll be moving tomorrow.

Yep, I don't even have GW2.
Re: Wars Of Guild 2
Yep and I don't know if it's related but each time I login it asks to send an email to confirm my address. Which I click and receive no email to confirm with.Dog Pants wrote:Is anyone else getting spammed by password reset emails?

Happened to me too, then I got four of them all at once. I think I've read something about them using email for login authentication sometime in the future, but this should just be a one time validation.spoodie wrote:I don't know if it's related but each time I login it asks to send an email to confirm my address. The reset emails are undoubtedly a scam to get at your Nigerian monies.

They've had an issue with this that is detailed on their forum. You can just ignore it for now and continue to play without validating it.spoodie wrote:Yep and I don't know if it's related but each time I login it asks to send an email to confirm my address. Re: Wars Of Guild 2
I'm kind of liking this and I think I will like it a lot once I've given it more playtime.
Of course it's all a bit new and not as comfortable as WoW, and feels a lot like Rift which never really grabbed me, because I knew my playtime was limited. I don't know how to do some basic things, like if I have to spend skill points, or whether I can add extra button panels, where I find trainers or shopkeepers whose goods I'm actually able to use yet or afford, or the mysteries of crafting. All these will come with time though - believe it or not I was still seeing loading-screen tips in WoW after 1,900 hours of play that made me say "oh, that's how you do that".
The things I do like, I like rather a lot. Being able to do my summons or charge up attacks on the run is absolutely key to how the combat works in this game. I can circle around an enemy launching anything I have in my arsenal at them. In WoW there was this stupid stop-start system where you had to stand still to cast spells, but were still expected to move around to avoid area-targeted attacks against you.

Re: Wars Of Guild 2
When you're representing a guild you gain Influence by doing the various things the game offers. This can then be spent in the guild panel for a variety of upgrades. It's easy to suss out how it works with a quick look so I won't go into detail, but just to say we came to a loose agreement:
to first get Guild Workshop in the Architecture line to allow two upgrades to be built simultaneously;
to progress through Politics and Economy.
Art of War is PvP, and the rest of Architecture is just guild bank storage space. As build times are used it's best if things are queued asap. We're all leaders and I'd guess no one would have any objections if anyone just buys the next upgrade in those two lines (after Guild Workshop) if you see we have enough Influence.
If anyone has objections to not getting the PvP stuff though, do say.

Re: Wars Of Guild 2
I'm really liking this actually. The whole open world explore and bump into events things feels much more slick than running between bouncing exclamation marks. The game encourages you to explore and if you happen to run into an event taking place, then you can join in...or not. While I've not partied formally yet, it's rare that I've ever had to take on much solo as there's almost always a few others in the area and you tend to help each other out naturally. While the combat is still 'select target mash buttons', it feels more fluid and is very intuitive. There's also many different styles to play just depending on what weapons you happen to be carrying, which is a nice touch and lets you vary things easily. All the bullshit is gone to - you can bank your crafting items from anywhere, and they appear again when you're near a crafting shop, so no running backwards and forwards to the bank to get the gem you forgot.
Re: Wars Of Guild 2
The architecture and PvP guild upgrades could be handy. We filled our guild bank pretty quickly in Warcraft, and WvW is a pretty big part of the game - far more WAR than WoW. Still, we need to prioritise because we obviously can't research everything. I think a guild bank should be priority 1 (when it works).
Re: Wars Of Guild 2
Ah, bummers, I didn't realise we didn't get a small bank as default. It's tier two though, so will set other things back a bit. I guess this is a bit more complicated than I thought and might have to be more ad hoc decisions rather than a plan.

Re: Wars Of Guild 2
For some reason my 3rd character can't represent the guild or chat in guild chat - most peculiar.
Crafting can be a bitch. Never seem to have enough materials for anything (vials of weak blood should be renamed hen's teeth)

Re: Wars Of Guild 2
On the other hand you don't need to grind crafting - researching new recipes and making stuff for yourself should level you enough. The lack of a subscription fee has really changed the design for the better here.

As I've just posted in the links & guide thread the video link details how best to do this. Basically research as much as possible and only craft as many of the basic components you need in order to do the research.
