That's a couple of blocks away, but you can clear that distance within a couple of minutes running. By the time you get to where people were fleeing from you can hear gunfire echoing through the streets from different directions, punctuated occassionally by a high pitched mechanical whine that coincides with a kind of low rasping noise. Peering round the corner of a building you can see smoke and flames at an intersection about 200m away, with dozens of damaged and abandoned vehicles jamming the road. From within the midsts of the smoke you can hear bursts of automatic fire.

Deej, you got a bead on whatever the hell is doing all the shooting?

From above you there's a screech. As you look up again you see the source to be three large armoured suits arcing through the air, the last of which is still emerging from the hole their drop pod left in the side of the building. They quickly disappear behind another building, heading towards the sounds of heavy gunfire and whining rotary cannon.

I'm not close enough to see anything but burning cars. I can hear lots of gunfire though. Whatever's happening is some heavy shit. I'm not sure I want to get close enough to find out. Get on the horn and make sure Station knows there's a big attack on.
Very reluctantly deej will look for cover that's within long range of the intersection and try to get a better look. As the new three armored guys fly overhead, deej pipes up again.
If you guys are following me stay the fuck down. If you're spotted we can all be take out. That definitely looks like Thresher to me.

There's lots of cover - there's a busy Central street's worth of abandoned cars to hide behind. As you weigh up your options you see movement from within the smoke, again moving towards the sounds of battle. Briefly you glimpse an armoured figure through a gap in the smoke. He's not as large as the ones you saw flying overhead earlier, but he's still Stormer sized and carrying an assault rifle that would look more like a machine gun were it in your hands.

These guys mean business.
Just to be clear, they're moving away from me, right?

Yep.

I guess I'll call it in to Station Analysis, or whomever it is we're supposed to call this sort of stuff in to.
We have an unknown number of heavily armed hostiles in large power armor suits, possibly 10 or more. They're heading South from my position. Requesting immediate backup, bring the heavy guns.

In my untrained opinion we'll only stand a chance if we get one on it's own. Deej and Cutter, reckon you could let off a coupe of shots around the smaller one's legs and arms? We can then try and get it to follow us round a corner where Eraser and Phoebe can get up close and personal while the rest of us target its head.

On a worrying note if it Thresher then they might be using DU rounds - which can mess me up something rotten.
I'll do a Detect roll (and some others) in case I can pick anything up:

Detect: 6,3,+8 = 18
Diagnose: 3,6,+10 = 19
Rival Company: 4,7,+2 = 13

Are you nuts? Of course I'm not going to take them on, I'd be ripped to shreds. I'm going to try and observe and hope that I'm not spotted.
I'd like to keep my distance, but also try to keep up with them so I can observe without being too obvious. Keep your distance I can't have you guys crowding me or attracting attention.

Detect = 5+5+4=14
Evaluate oponent on the one left = 6+5+5=16
Tracking on the ones gone = 10+5+5=20 (yay)

Your rival company roll tells you that Thresher tactics are generally high profile hit-and-runs, and this looks exactly like that. If they follow standard procedure they should be buggering off again pretty soon after causing lots of chaos.

Bah, two new posts since I started the last one. That was for Dirk, but applies to anyone else who made a Rival Company roll.

Deej: They're pulling back behind a building, so in less than a minute you should be able to move up to almost where they were without being in their line of sight.

Eraser: The guy glimpsed though the smoke, assuming you saw him (which for now I will) looked like he knew his shit, and looked like he was moving as part of a fireteam. Tracking a flying target is tricky, but you've got a good idea where they probably landed, which is unsurprisingly right where you can hear the heaviest fighting.

I'd like to check all my gear and see if I can get a better idea of how many Thresher there are.

You can only get info on the ones you've seen, but radar picks up six targets ahead of you in two clusters of three, before they vanish behind the building.
