CGI: The Videogame Movie

Probably more interesting if you actually like Warcraft, but that trailer shows virtually nothing.

It's the "teaser" for the trailer (which is just a weird thing to do). Full trailer out on Friday.

I guess it has Stormwind in it? And a griffon that a bloke jumps on - that could have been a nasty repair bill (and a rather boring film) otherwise.

Yeah, I'm with Grimmie on this one. Bad CGI and that fucking BWOOOOOO noise again.

The CGI thing is weird. I watched the trailer for the new WoW expansion which is entirely CGI as is tradition and it looked a lot better. I do wonder whether they would have been better off doing a feature length fully CGI animated film rather than trying for live action.

Yep, I thought that, and a number of people commenting on the RPS article where I found it said that too.

If this report on the trailer wasn't from the BBC I would have assumed it was satire. Its this kind of attention to detail and strive for accuracy that made me give up on mainstream news.

The effects in trailers are rarely the finished end product. Compare and contrast the first Guardians of the Galaxy trailers that aired compared to the final film - some significant differences. There will be a lot of polishing before release.

That said, I still don't think it looks that good.

That's true, but in this case it's not that the CGI looks bad, but that everything in that trailer is CGI apart from the humans which gives it a weird, first tron movie-like vibe. Otherwise it looks like a generic fantasy film with the warcraft name attached.

That's true, but I guessed the entire plot well before I saw the trailer. That said, this is the first trailer that makes me actually interested in seeing it.
