Re: Planetside 2
Queueing isn't really that bad. I don't usually encounter any on week nights, and only a few minutes now at the weekends.

Indeed, it's not so bad now, sometimes end up waiting 5 minutes, but it's really not awful.

Apparently I now have 670 of these things, I have no idea how.Dog Pants wrote:180 free station cash anyone? You have to sign up to two browser MMOs using your SOE account, but since Sony already have my details and I don't actually have to play, or even install, the games I don't really care. I've tried it, it works (although 180 on its own doesn't buy a lot).
Re: Planetside 2
The bastards! They're released a new AT rocket, slower and more powerful. That's exactly what I wanted - I prefer to work close up with the tanks anyway and ambush them. At range they tend to sit still anyway, and with 3/5 hits on a Sunderer that was probably around 1 - 1 1/2km away last night my accuracy at range isn't really an issue anyway. I just couldn't do enough damage to it.
Re: Planetside 2
I just chased an enemy MAX over a ridge in my Maggie only to find about 20 NC taking cover behind it. Since they were lined up nicely along the crest in a firefight with my own troops, I ran the fuckers over. Must have got about 6 kills before they got me at the other end of the line.

Re: Planetside 2
I have mixed feelings on the sunderer, on one hand I can understand why they need to have that much armour, on the other hand a tank vs sundy battle should only have one outcome and it shouldn't be the maggie driver walking back to base.
I wonder how long before the tank zergs are replaced with sundy zergs.
Also, are you seeing issues when trying to run people over? I seem to miss an awful lot of the time.

As with everything, I think if you've not upgraded your maggie you're going to be only moderately effective. I don't think the Sunderer machine guns should be able to chew down a tank's armour like that though. I've noticed a few non-kills when I've run over the enemy, but I get every single friendly who comes anywhere near me.

Re: Planetside 2
Maybe I'm a better engineer now, but I seem to get killed a lot less when repairing friendly vehicles. I thought they may have tweaked the road kill mechanic. I'm pretty sure I'm being pushed a little more now and not always an outright kill.
And I'm glad you can trial things before purchase. I was getting frustrated with being raped from the sky, trialed the AA launcher, got 1 hit from around 30 shots fired. No thanks, £8 saved.

Re: Planetside 2
Its worth getting a couple of upgrades on the repair tool, makes for faster repairs so less time spent being run over.
Re: Planetside 2
The trial thing is quite nice, and the AA launcher is pants. I unlocked (with certs) the Flare LMG this weekend and am quite pleased with it.

Just unlocked the penultimate repair tool upgrade. Maybe I'm not dying so easily now as I've been focusing on that class. Focussing on one particular class/vehicle seems to be a good idea, otherwise I end up being shit and ill equipped in everything I try.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:Its worth getting a couple of upgrades on the repair tool, makes for faster repairs so less time spent being run over.

Ooh, you can buy them in packets? Sounds like a better option than Station creds.deject wrote:Dog Pants wrote:The trial thing is quite nice, and the AA launcher is pants. I unlocked (with certs) the Flare LMG this weekend and am quite pleased with it.
Absolutely. The upgrades aren't great individually, but the cumulative effect is that you become a lot better at your job. I don't think there's a huge amount that affects mano-a-mano combat (although better armour and ammo will probably help there too), but being a better engineer or medic should start bagging you more XP and thus more certs.spoodie wrote:Just unlocked the penultimate repair tool upgrade. Upgrading my health seems to have had a significant effect when going toe-to-toe, generally they drop first, unless they're a heavy who knows how to use their shield. And I spam my repair gun as much as possible.Dog Pants wrote:Absolutely. The upgrades aren't great individually, but the cumulative effect is that you become a lot better at your job. You can upgrade your health? Is that an engineer thing or have I missed it?

Re: Planetside 2
How do you trial unlocks?
Re: Planetside 2
Click on the unlock button, there's a blue trial button at the bottom of the window where you choose certs or station cash.
Re: Planetside 2
Sometimes the trial button doesn't work and you have to re-log. You should get 30 mins and you're locked out of further trials for a good while once over.
Not unique as far as I know, it's the nano-weave armour option. The cheapest to get started in I think.Dog Pants wrote:You can upgrade your health? Is that an engineer thing or have I missed it?
Re: Planetside 2
Ah right, yeah I've put a couple of upgrades into that.
