I like when Joose makes people that have to talk, Image macros make me warm and fuzzy inside.

Does the sexy Ebon need to make an appearance?

And if not, will Dirk do?

I heard he'll do anything that's had a pulse in the last 24 hours.

Might be as well, Hal seems to have gone onto screensaver.

Sorry! Had a crap week all round, hence the update failz.

So, the Red Snappers are mercs? Sounds like an odd group to be selling gear. I would have thought mercs would be more on the buying end. Ah well, lets see if some smooth talking gets us anywhere.

Hall picks up his pint and approaches the bar. Catching the eye of the barman, he says...
Hal wrote:Awight mate, I'm lead to understand that there are persons around ere who might provide services or items of a violent nature. If I were the sort who would be looking to purchase such items, who might I want to talk to?
Diplomacy roll, I guess?

He leans in close and speaks quietly.
Barman wrote:Props? There's Props everywhere in Downtown. Why does a SLA Operative need a Prop?

Arse. Ah well, not entirely surprising. Let's stick with it.
Let's just say it's not for officially sanctioned business. An it's not props I'm after.

I'll be honest with you, I'm no frother, I'm no stormer, my place is not in combat. I make deals. I make money. If I can hook a supply up with a demand, make a little scratch on the side, use my skills and contacts to keep things under the radar...you know what I'm saying, right?

Word is theres goods being shifted that can give a guy an edge. I know a guy who knows a guy who could be interested in getting such an edge.

He pauses and eyes you up for a second.
Barman wrote:A little scratch on the side huh? Maybe I am too. How much are we talking?

Gah, damnit, typed a big old response, hit the wrong button and deleted the fucker. Try again!
Depends on the quality. To start I would want a sample for my man in the know to have a butchers at. If it's pukka, then ... Well, I've got multiple interested parties, so if there's a supply chain, I would be looking at hooking in to that. If there's limited numbers, I'd want lock, stock, the facking lot.
Hal takes a puff on his cigar, keeping eye contact with the guy.
But let's start with the sample.

Barman wrote:Huh, a sample. See those Jays over there? They asked for a sample the other week and got more than they bargained for. Mind you, they deserved it, went in too heavy. I'll have a word with the boss. Not that I trust you, company man, but we've no beef with the Corp and we'd rather that was reciprocated.

Im not expecting freebies.
I'll continue drinking, whilst looking at him expectantly.

I've just realised that I seem to switching at random between "Hal does this" and "I will do this". Odd.

I switch between first and third person all the time as a player. Neither feels right in all situations.

The barman addresses one of the big blokes at the bar.
Barman wrote:Nosher, keep an eye on the bar a minute.
He heads off into the back room. About 20 minutes later he returns.
Barman wrote:Boss isn't happy, but if matching you up with some gear gets you out of the sector then he'll cut a deal with you. He's meeting up with the supplier soon for a demo, he says he'll film it and you can judge it on that. That little tidbit'll cost you five grand. After that if you're still interested he'll get you a sample.

I'll make considering faces for a second, then...
Fine. Bring the video, *and* the sample, i dont want to leave empty handed. We can negotiate price for the sample then and there. I'll be back in 3 hours. Longer than that, and I will find myself disinclined to continue to subvert the active investigation into your dealings.
I'll neck the rest of my drink and make to leave. If they don't say anything else, I'll do so.

Hal puts his arms to his sides, palms out, in that "hey, i'll do my best" pose as he gets up
I'll do my best, but don't come crying to me if angry ops beat down your door in the mean time. Twelve hours then. Not a second later.
I'll leave, giving the lone drinker a nod on the way out. Once im well clear of the building, i'll put my coms back on.
Hal, to the team wrote:Just had a lovely natter to some helpful fellas. Seems like the Snappers are just shifting the goods for a third party. I've made out like a bent agent who wants to help them shift the stuff, and their chief mucky muck is going to meet with their supplier to get get some video and a sample. That gives us a couple of options. We can track em, and hope they lead us right to the shit, or we can come back in 12 hours for the agreed meet and go from there. I vote we try plan A, and keep plan B as a backup.

Dirk wrote:Sounds like a good plan. Do we know who his boss is so we can track him to the demo? Like you say we should be able to track the main sellers back to their base that way. I think you still meet him in 12 hours though - we could still be chasing things down at that point, and if you don't show it could ring alarm bells.
