Best. Win. Ever.

everyone say it with me, Terran is OP. lmao.

The game is just barely under an hour, so it's best to watch at Fasterx8. Basically I abuse the Lift building ability to pull a win when I almost GG'd.

I've been saying it for a while. Terrans are just OP-tastic.

To be fair he should have been able to crush me before I was able to build that much.

Yeah, the worst thing you can do is let a terran build an army.

Just remembered out of the blue why I'm not playing this any more. Defending the artifact.
Spoiler:
I can't believe they made the last mission a shitty defender.
Shame when all the other missions were so creative.

Yeah, that mission sucks.
Spoiler:
And Kerrigan lost all of what made her frightening in this game. That made me a sad Grimmie.
She used to have this awesome presence in the story because she was an unrelenting mastermind of a bitch.
Now she's just some angry unit that pisses around and makes empty threats.

Let's face it, the whole story is shit. I could rant on for pages and pages about it.

But I will certainly not. The singleplayer missions are fairly creative. The multiplayer is great.

You could almost say that Starcraft 2 is the Avatar of videogames. Technically it's pretty amazing. The way it plays is in general incredibly good. Where it falls down is the story is just sort of boring. There isn't much of interest unless you're really deeply involved in the backstory somehow. The characters are the stereotypes for what the story needs, but there isn't enough life in them.

I quite enjoyed it up to that point, I'm hoping we just got Terran cheese, and that we'll be getting creepy evil zergs and mysteeeerious protoss next time.

Oh, I did enjoy the game itself, but the characters had been extremely stereotypized, Raynor went through some sort of machoification machine, the scientist is the typical pussy, the armory guy is literally a dwarf, Mengsk is the typical fuck-you politician dictator thing, Valerian looks like he had been pulled out of a mediocre anime, Tychus is the renegade guy
Spoiler:
oh surprise he had sold out as well, totally unexpected
the captain is about the only guy who I couldn't define with a stereotype, really. Their lines are just like Blizzard whipped up the good old Hollywood book of lines, it's absolutely not original. Oh, yeah, not to mention Kerrigan being an annoying bitch instead of a mastermind now and Zeratul is just overdoing it, dude, I get it, you're protoss. The plot was a kick in the balls, not only it was horribly predictable, it was just horrible. Yeah, some big undefeatable guys are coming whom we will defeat despite unlikely odds (*cough* Mass Effect *cough*), but hey meanwhile we
Spoiler:
assault the zerg homeworld and with really just no effort at all we can get to the leader who was probably being assaulted the same way over and over again in the past few years but I'm the protagonist guy and I will succeed squared cause I can actually turn her back, what a horribly convenient coincidence
.

Shit, just don't get me started on it again. :P

Well I'm not all that bothered by the quality of the story. It did its job and was a vehicle for interesting little news sequences and cutscenes. It's not like I've come to expect a high standard from my game plots. However, the gameplay of almost all the levels had me thinking I've had an RTS re-awakening, that the genre might actually become interesting. And it had, apart from that mission. Its like they thought "we've given them a first class game, now lets have a nod back to why they used to be shit. Just to remind them how awesome we are".

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, the game was brilliant. I fully plan on playing the whole thing again. Up to that mission, which I'll probably never get past, just like I have with every other RTS with a crappy defender.

There was nothing wrong with the missions themselves and the gameplay is second to none. The story is the letdown, but it's not really worse than most video games anyways.

Yeah, the story is somewhat like they wrote it using the Big Book of Sci-Fi Stereotypes, but its only really *bad* when you compare it to the quality of the other parts of SC2. By general gaming standards, its pretty average.

That's not to say that I think this is OK. Games companies really ought to get proper writers in more often. The standard for storytelling in gaming is fucking terrible.

Easy, he is the squeaky clean officer type.

Now that you mention squeaky officer types, he slightly reminds me of Pilot from Farscape. I miss Duke. He was a lovable ass.

:above: The story was gash and I ended up skipping the cutscenes - a shame when Blizzard can make such awesome ones - but the stories told by the interesting and varied missions more than made up for it, particularly the delicious zombies at night ones.

I wonder how the (potential) other two-thirds of the story will pan out, and more pertinently what their price point will be, given we already have supposedly 100% of the multiplayer game already.

They're going to be priced as 'expansions', so probably £25 in store, and £15-20 online.

I sincerely doubt that, we'll probably see the introduction of new and new old units into the multiplayer. There probably won't be units which are already replaced by other ones (firebat, medic, guardian, scout), but Blizzard did mention new units in the expansion. You probably won't be able to use them unless you buy the expansion either, just like in WC3 or SCBW.

Makes sense, after all they want all their players to buy the expansions, not just the singletons. I did read somewhere that the toys you get to use in MP are the merest fraction of what you get in SP, so perhaps there's some room for expansion there, too.
