I know the bike that mcqueen knicks is a triumph, rather than a BMW, but u have no idea about a TV series. unless its sommat like CHiPsDog Pants wrote:Slight deviation from the formula here, but this question that was posed to the office by a fireman this morning and we're still talking about it so it seems apt:
What TV series was the bike in 'The Great Escape' also used in?
Apparently it's the exact same machine. I know the answer (after he told us), but I can't find any evidence to back it up. Assuming someone gets it (I'll post the answer at lunch time if nobody does), can anyone show me any evidence or is it just a rumour that people now accept as fact?
A 1960 Triumph TR6 apparently. And they used more than one bike in the film, the one that jumps the fence isn't the same one they used in the rest of the film, so the fireman's intel might be a bit iffy.Anhamgrimmar wrote:

I suspect it is. The internet reckons it was a Triumph 650 Bonneville (with the railings) and the fireman said it was the exact same bike The Fonz used in Happy Days. I tried to find a contact for Henry Winkler to ask him but didn't get anywhere. Guess I'll post a picture then:Sheriff Fatman wrote:
