*whispers in Grimmie and Deej's ears*
It would be such a shame if he were to be involved in an accident....
Guns misfiring happens occasionally....
And you really need the money for repairs and new guns....
Go on...who's going to know.........
You could blame it on a trap on the way out........
Go on......
Do it.......

Hahaha, I was kidding, but that seems more fair I guess.
I'm spending 35c on armour repairs, so I need every cred I can get.

Balance:
934 + 194 = 1128
1128 - 35 = 1093

I'm spending 25c on armor repairs, and buying the KPS underbarrel shotgun, so I'm going to be going from 36c to 230c.

Nah, what you were doing *was* fine Tezz, it just so happened that this BPN moved very very quickly, didn't help you were split from the main group as it meant you got sidelined.

I think people forgot it was Doggers and not Joose running it :P

Yeah, you were doing fine Tezz once you got the hang of it. I gave you half XP because you didn't start playing until towards the end of the BPN. Talky stuff can be tricky if you're not too au-fait with the background, especially if you're playing a streetwise character like yourself.

I might as well debrief the rest of you too while I'm at it. I'll start off by saying I didn't have much more than the Hunter Sheet you all got to go off. There was a single sheet of GM instructions, most of which was stats for Mama. She was described as being superhumanly hard, but then given slightly higher than average stats (a result of her Shatter addiction) and hard fingernails with which to rake open powered armour. Clearly a discrepancy there. Fuck knows how she was supposed to have killed a whole squad of Stormers. This isn't a rare occurrance in published SLA stuff. Everything else I winged. I'm interested to know if it showed actually.

So. First off you reacted well but then completely forgot to follow all your usual lines of investigation. A forensics check and chat with the Shivers were what it would take, or a bit more detailed questioning of the people around the robberies. You got there in the end though. Tracking the kids was done well. Too well, in fact, and I ended up having to describe much more of the sewers than I'd expected. Still, you got that Blue BPN out of that and bagged an extra 50c each. The kids had travelled too far to track all the way home though, you needed to be directed to the Warrens.

Once you got to the Warrens you did rather well. I was impressed at how well the character of the traders was gauged, and that resulted in good information and relatively friendly Props. Had you gone in threatening them the Props would have been trying to take you out too. The method of tracking down Mama after you got one of the kids was rather unorthodox, but a surprisingly effective recovery after a disasterous interrogation. More than a few stress points were had all round due to Toast's interview techniques.

The grenade encounter was to be the first of a series of harrassments from an adult gang fed from the Mama's Boys, but you moved quickly enough after that encounter to not give me chance.

Once in Mama's house you blundered through the early traps a bit, and anyone falling foul of the pitfalls would have been in serious trouble. I didn't expect to do anything other than scare people with those though. The others you encountered pretty much as expected once you'd got used to being more careful. The CAF mines I particularly liked, so expect to see them more often. The radio transmitter was rigged to explosives further up the dry tunnel, which would have turned it very wet very quickly. Again, that wasn't really designed by me to go off.

The encounter with Mama went disappointingly well. It's written in the Hunter Sheet assuming that you'll talk to her first, and that put me in the mindset to expect it. I probably shouldn't have though. Kudos to Deject for dealing with her effectively, because once I decided to give her Dirk's GASH Fist she could have really spoilt someone's day. However, her lack of armour let her down. I was, again, going to pepper you with fire from the kids and considered having some adult gangers in armour kicking about for backup, but with Mama dead I couldn't justify the kids sticking round, so I decided to finish it off.

The PvP combat was quite stressful. I needed to give the squad a chance to fight back, and it seemed reasonable for Grimmie with his tactical knowledge to notice the difference between Mephit sauntering over and moving into an attack position. Not that it would have mattered a huge amount - a needle has fuck all chance of penetrating Dirk's Deathsuit. I tried to run that as close to the rules as I could to avoid friction, but ultimately I was biased towards the squad because by that point, with little hope of every being played again, Toast and Mephit had almost become directed NPCs.

You came out of it with more cash than I expected. The Hunter Sheet always did pay cock all, but this wasn't an exercise in generating money. I wanted to run something outside the BPN structure to give more of an impression of a flowing world, and that not everything that happens to you will lead to a nice Consolidated Bonus Scheme. However, since the final encounter was dealt with well it seemed reasonable to give you a bonus for Op kit recovered, since the kids had recently taken to robbing Ops in Suburbia.

All in all, rather good. I'm considering giving Joose and TSD a bit of XP for their next characters for their portrayals of Toast and Mephit. Despite being utterly counter-productive and potentially damaging to the campaign, they were a good insight into the type of people who often become Ops. Also, Mephit's accent will be sorely missed.

Please make adjustments to your character sheets as necessary and get me a copy. The latest version of the Excel sheet is on the wiki, and it has some nice bits like a tooltip for starting kit (idea taken from Grimmie - nice one), corrected maths, and a couple of other bits and bobs that have improved. I'd like people to use them, but I'm not going to insist on everyone re-writing their sheets because it's a pain in the arse.

Next BPN is written and I'll kick that off once sheets are in and people are signed up. Speak now if you want to be on the next one.

Fantastic BPN, Pants! Very, very enjoyable. Even though it took two months to complete, it flowed fast enough on the forums for it not to seem to drag on. In hindsight, I suppose when we play on skype it takes two months to complete one too.

I couldn't tell you were winging things at all - I thought that we were meandering a little, but I suppose the flexible nature of this BPN meant that we never felt we had seriously veered off course like we have in the past. I liked the fact that we could move around and do our own exploration without many leads, as opposed to the SLA investigations that usually have a set destination.

Mama's hunter sheet was a pleasant surprise, and instilled lots of fear into me for the remainder of the mission (right up till Deej' peppered her face with bullets). I assumed for the most part that her stormer massacre was here say, rather than documented fact, and took it with a pinch of salt. The booby traps were great, not enough to completely screw us over, but enough to give us a kick up the arse and co-ordinate ourselves.

Toast and Mephit, fucking BRAVO. They were awesome characters, and I can't wait to see what you two pull out of the bag for your next guys. Very nicely roleplayed, lots of personality to them.

Really, really enjoyed this, and I think the forums allowed us to get a little more in-character speech off than Skype does, and let us get to know each other's characters on a more personal level, rather than how we act. Do you have any estimates on how many more forum based ones we'll do before we head back over to the land of the microphone?

No idea, all depends on Mrs/Sprog Pants. Both ways have their advantages and disadvantages, but if it looks like this way works better then I'm happy to stick with it. Less pressure on me, and it means I don't have to write BPNs as fast.

Definately up for the next one Mr Pants, you have my character for that as well.

No I'm not saying what it is, that'll spoil the surprise.

It didn't feel like it was on the fly at all, and I've GMed enough to know that the players will almost never stick to the script anyway, the skill there is to not show when the party have done that, and you managed to make it all seem under control.

I think it shows from my posting I wasn't expecting Mama to drop that quick 'Faster than a carrion with a lung infection' was my exact quote.

Grimmies Tactics were fantastic, It took half a clip of Ammo to drop Mephit, he would have been proud.

The PvP was well executed as well, I blame Joose for it completely. But may the lesson of 'do not taunt the crazy people' be learned. I had messaged pants not long after you guys met the team saying Dirk was going to get splatted if he made the comment 'fresh out of meany' one more time.

There's also something to be said, though, for avoiding creating characters who simply won't gel with the party. It's a fine line; I was hoping it would turn into love/hate banter (I'm going for this in Shadowrun too, incidentally), but it wasn't to be.

I think if we hadn't have killed them then, they would've done the job themselves sooner or later.

I don't mind taking half exp. and little/no monies seen as I did miss a lot, joined in pretty much half way through and took my time replying. I did enjoy it for the most part though after I got involved.

I would like to play again however I wasn't too keen on Pete's comment, really fucked me off to be honest as I thought I was doing okay role playing wise and the KT's help would of been of benefit.

Also next time I won't join in half way through as I was waiting still waiting for the internets to arrive and we'd already gotten onto page 10.

I did think that we were going to walk and then have the guys come looking for us, but then Joose edited his post and we came back (Meph wasn't about to leave his teammate)

However, Joose wasn't expecting to survive the run, and was surprised he lasted as long as he did...
