^ This. Most of the densely populated houses themselves are *almost* at 90 and 45 degree angles anyway, its more the roads that are a bit funny. If it ends up with the houses slightly stepped to the road, I don't think that will look as odd as wonky houses.
I also wouldn't get too hung up over getting things in *exactly* the right place/size/orientation either. As long as it is basically correct, it will look right. No one is going to go around afterwards measuring it, and taking us down to 4 out of 5 because some of the buildings are a bit too far to the east or something.

I was thinking more of slight mismatches being amplified to cause large problems later in the build. Hopefully we can avoid that with some friggery.
Can always trim bits off the backs of buildings it they get a bit wonky and start hitting each other, no big deal. I was thinking that the strange angles between angles and differently positioned houses could be used as miniature front gardens with fence posts and flowers :D
Think oblivion. Wood for the cheapuns and the quaint cottages, stone for the terraces and mansions.
I might plonk a few examples down and then let everyone else interpret them as they like.
Oh, and use a variety of materials. Fence posts for balconies, metal and wood doors, flowers, half stone/wood/cobblestone blocks, etc.
I need a buttload of wool and lapis to colour the library's exterior walls, which I think may take soooommme time. I have something in my head for it.
Most of the low-land inside the boundary has been raised now (and cleared and lit), just need to do the section with the sea in I think, and patch up any creeper holes.
Will let artistic people sort the stuff outside the boundary, I suspect the easiest method would just be to have gently sloped edges, dunno.
Finished a house and started on the butcher before I retired to sleeps, gonna start building a few plots and then we can map the roads out a bit further.
Question: Would it be ok for there to be a 6 block wide cobblestone (or anything other than grass, really) path around the Iron Man statue? I have had a Cunning Plan, but it requires not grass.
