How close can I get to the door from outside without being completely obvious?

Depends how good at hiding you are. By hanging around alleyways, say 30m.

You quietly scoot over and secrete yourself in a shadowy and junk filled alcove in the wall of the bar. Hide roll?

oops...

To be fair, how hard is it for a Stormer in huge armour to hide?

Well, pretty hard in theory, but the rules don't cater for it. You can't see anyone looking at any rate.

Doesn't mean they aren't.

How close to the door am I now then? Just so I know how long it'll take to storm in when the Squirrel's Arsehole is mentioned.

Not far, five meters. The entrance kind of juts out a little and leaves two relatively deep indents where it joins the other walls.

OK, Disguise roll:

Roll(2d10)-3:
1,5,-3
Total:3

...shite.

I'll make a detect roll too, see what I can spy in the way of weapons on the military types, anything interesting about the loner, etc:

Roll(2d10)+0:
10,5,+6
Total:21

If I'm honest, I would have preferred those rolls the other way around

The loner looks a bit down and out, certainly nothing more than that. The military types all have the telltale bulges of concealed sidearms, and probably not CAF by the looks of it.

I'll order a pint. I'll then glance nervously at the army types and the gangsters, like I'm trying to find a friendly face. Finally, I'll look over to the bloke by himself, look relieved, and order a drink for him too.

Presuming that goes smoothly, I'll sit down at the table with the loner, and introduce myself, all friendly like. Not *too* friendly, I don't want to give him the wrong idea.

I'm not Dirk, after all.

The bloke is pretty hammered, but seems friendly enough. Unlike the other patrons who are giving off a distinctly hostile vibe.
