This whole bigot gaff thing is giving me the rage. The media making Brown out to be some sort of monster for saying something in private that was clearly true, then Brown simpering and grovelling to them by apologising four times.

:above: He was right. Stupid thing to do but she is a bigot, an angry stupid old bigot. I would have respected him more if he'd actually manned up and said yeah, I shouldn't have said it but I still meant it.

Apologising isn't going to win him anyone's respect. Anyone who was offended by what he said is probably still going to be offended, and anyone who agreed with it now thinks, as we do, that he's spineless.

Everyone harks on about how they want politicians to be more down to earth and say what they mean rather than the usual evasive political crap. Then when he does say it he's villified.

Vote Prince Philip for PM!

Well Bush was disliked for a good many more things than that, but I've a fraction more respect for him for sticking up for himself. I'm also glad to see Keith Vaz in there, although it's a pity he didn't say something more damning.

Also, Keith Vaz is one more huge reason I won't be voting labour. As his wiki page once said, he is a cupcake.

:above: That. Personally, the fact that he says what he means and doesnt take it back just to appease the press is one of the few things I like about the guy. Its a shame that he is such a dick in so many other respects really.

Actually, to be fair to Bush, I get the impression that he is actually quite a nice chap. Just a very, very stupid nice chap with some rather crazy ideas. And I would rather the most powerful country in the world is run by someone who can, say, tie his own shoelaces without an illustrated guide.

I don't even think he's that stupid, just not that bright and easily manipulated. I've always assumed that some group somewhere wanted him in power for their own purposes.

I take it everyone has signed the new 38 Degrees thing over Murdoch's cuntiness?

If not, do it: http://www.38degrees.org.uk/page/s/hung ... r#petition

No. It's pointless. They're corporations, they don't need to listen to anyone but themselves and the government. Even if they do listen, they don't need to act either.

This new Dan Bull video is a pretty accurate summary of that debate. Also good.

Seems after all that the Lib Dems welped because most of their tacit supporters still didn't vote for them because of the 'wasted' vote thing. We really should get a referendum on electoral reform narf.

Sadly it looks very unlikely anyone will get a clear majority at this stage, which is a pain. Suffice to say, a Lib/Lab coalition would make a mockery of the whole system not to mention it being an entirely cynical political move and I'd lose any shred of respect for Clegg after what he's said in the run up to the election.

So, minority Cons government for a year then another election. Calling it now.

Meanwhile, brace for another recession. Seems the Greece thing is going to fuck over the economy again.

I'm bitterly disappointed in the way the system has panned out. It seems like everybody lost.
