Man Burns Down House in Net Feud

Post by News Reader »

Image Man Burns Down House in Net Feud
In what may be the oddest story I’ve seen in some time, a man was convicted of arson after he drove over 1,300 miles to burn down the house of a man he had an argument with…over the internet.

The feud started when Anderson, who runs a haunted house near Waco, joined a picture-sharing Web site and posted his artwork and political views. After he blocked some people from his page because of insults and foul language, they retaliated by making obscene digitally altered pictures of him, he said.

It was a trailer, not a house, and the bloke who's trailer it was sounded like a right cupcake in the link I read. Some people seem to think that's because it's the internet, it's not real, and that insulting and harassing people is acceptable behaviour.

Didn't actually read the full article to be honest. I agree with your point of insults somehow being acceptable because they're not face-to-face, and at the end of the day harrassment is harrassment. Still, burning down someone's home is a somewhat extreme example.

Wasn't there a case in Korea or something where someone travelled across the country with a sword and stabbed someone as a result of some in-game fallout?

Anyone who wants a sword doesn't get one.

It certainly sounds like the bloke deserved it.

There was also one involving a rare online sword (I think) where someone lent it to a friend, said friend sold the sword, previous owner of the sword kills now ex-friend because of it

Read this on another site the other day, it also commented that the arsonist's screenname had been "pyrosomething".

Seriously though, I'm no nicer in real life, the only difference with the internet is that I'm not likely to hurt you.

Haha you're just a big cuddly bear. You put on this big scary internet mask to hide the fact you dress in tu-tus and dance the fandango
