Groovy, I was thinking about doing a write up of our exploits.

In light of last nights close call, I've already started making a back up character. Similar to my current one in that it's detective based, but a bit more bad assed. I'm modeling it on the Watchmen character, Rorschach...

how about one that can avoid snipers at point blank, thus avoiding expensive laundry bills :)

Update from last night's BPN:

Gerald - Gets a phone call from a media Op named Laura Andalucia regarding a film clip she took of the squad being aired. The showing is on the news the next night in a 30 second bulletin on the shootout at the Wilkins Mall, with a 10 second clip of the firefight. The clip mostly shows the gang members being shot out from behind their bikes, but also shows Deject's running testicle kick, Gerald's bike toss and flying leg-lock, and a brief shot of Grim and Gek calmly taking aimed shots as bullets ping by them. A copy of the original footage is sent, but Andalucia owns the copyright.

Dirk - A date with Elva Miller is available if you want it. She's older than you (32), and not particularly attractive, but she's in good shape. Should you take her on her date she'll pass on the number of an SCL 5 financier called Jacob Haynes with a little bit of information about him (see the contacts in the Wiki).

The squad can have a +1 reputation with Public Image and Shivers as a result of the Mall fight.

Dirk: wooing ladies for contacts and pimping for the squad.

I would like to spend my next lot of XP on the 'Casanova' skill.

What happened after last night's BPN? I was a little tipsy and it's all a bit fuzzy. IIRC you all got your 4 xp and 250c. There should have been complications with the birth due to the mother being moved but I can't remember if I did that.

I need to drink less when running my game.

A brief run down of the BPN:

Overkill

The squad met up with their new financier, Jacob Haynes, who treated them to lunch in the Royal Restaurant in the Trof level of the Pit. He's something of a step up for the squad after having dealt with Crazy Herman.

Haynes issues the squad with their first ever Silver BPN. They were asked to head Downtown and help clear out an apartment block, Mandella Towers, in preparation for GoreZone. Their contact for the job was pseudo-New Parisian Andre Desverger. GoreZone is a TV show in which Carriens and other monstrous critters are loosed upon an apartment block, and a team of Contract Killers goes in and blows them to pieces for entertainment. The squad's task was to make sure the block had been cleared of all inhabitants before the critters were released. They were under strict instructions not to seriously harm any remaining occupants, but they had to be removed from the building. They were given a 40 minute in which to complete their task.

The building consisted of 10 ten floors and one basement level. The squad were advised that so far the occupants of 6 rooms were unaccounted for. The team decided to split up, with Dirk and Deject heading straight to the top floor with the aim of working their way back down, and Grimmie and Gek starting off investigating the basement and working their way up.

Deject, with cat like grace and speed, quickly made it up to the top floor whilst Dirk strolled up at a leisurely pace. With time being of the essence, Deject didn't hang around and swiftly booted in the door of the unaccounted apartment (after knocking first of course). No one one was there, and after a cursory check of the doors on the floor Deject headed down to meet Dirk on floor 9.

Meanwhile Grimmie and Gek had investigated the basement. Dark and dank with nothing of any real interest - except for a large, ominous door. They realised that this would be the automated entrance for what ever monsters were released. Heading up to the first floor they approached the door of the missing tenant, knocked and got no answer. Style being everything, rather than kick the door down Gek utilised his chain axes and turned the door into sawdust. Within the room was a young lady, spaced out on drugs, practically comatose on the settee. After gentle persuasion didn't budge her, Grimmie hoisted her over his shoulder and carried her outside to a nearby medic team. Gek continued up to the second floor.

By this time Dirk and Deject had approached apartment 5 on floor 9. Their initial door knockings had met with a torrent of abuse from the otherside - someone in there was reluctant to leave. Booting down the door they viewed a 'portly' man wielding what appeared to be a chair or table leg in an unfriendly manner. He screamed at them to leave and said he was a veteran of Dante who could take anyone on. Unperturbed, Deject bounded across the room, disarmed him and wrestled him to the ground. Dirk hurried over and tried to pin the man's arms behind his back. Unfortunately the man was going to leave easily or quietly. As the two SLA operatives wrestled with this portly man (dressed only in his underwear and a vest), they realised they might need to be a bit more forceful. Dirk attempted to stun him using his Ebon charge, but that failed and only made the man more annoyed. Deject decided to take a more hands on approach and tried to slap the man around the head. Although the first wild flail missed, the man was soon suitably subdued with further beatings to the face. Deject, being the strongest and fastest of the two ops, decided that he would carry the portly man out of the building whilst Dirk proceeded to check the other floors.

to be continued...*

*I need to check the continuity of a few things - but I do believe at one point a troll was thrown off a bridge.

Continued (may contain some inaccuracies due to the presence of beer at the time).

Gek meets Deject on floor 5. Deject is still manhandling the portly man downstairs. At this point Deject motion scanner starts to beep, indicating apartment number has signs of life in there. Gek takes over escort duty and continues the man's journey down. Deject takes his IR scope and puts it to the keyhole of the door in question. Within he can only make out the blurs of some small objects, nothing man sized at least.

Kicking down the door into a darkened room, Deject hears scrabbling sounds from behind the settee. Moving inwards he senses something brush past him which he makes a grab for. His hands close around the arm of a small, terrified young boy. Overcoming his surprise, he takes another look round the room and finds the boy's younger sister. Grabbing them both by the arms and legs he continues to sprint with them downstairs and outside (at one point even passing Gek who is still struggling with the portly fellow).

At the same time as all this has been going on, Dirk is on the 7th floor outside room number 1. He has knocked and heard muffled cursing from within. He knocks several more times, aware that someone is inside, and yells that they need to evacuate the building. A single shout of refusal from inside prompts Dirk to kick the door down, where he yet again finds himself looking down the wrong end of a gun barrel.

Inside is a heavily pregnant woman on the settee. Standing over her is an extremely nervous looking young man. The man is pointing the gun directly at Dirk. Appraising the situation, Dirk realises that combat is not the best course of action. With his hands in the air he manages to talk the young man to lower gun. After a few tense moments he complies. The man, Geoff, explains that his wife is too near to labour to be able to move - he insists that they're staying put until the birth. Checking his watch Dirk realises that they have a little under 10 minutes to clear the building before the doors are opened and the nasty things charge in. Geoff, still not keen on moving Mary (his wife), says that he will only move if the local Bayou midwife is outside and ready to help. He gives Dirk her phone number who asks her to get there as fast as she can (whilst skirting round the issue of whether he is SLA or not). Dirk and Geoff start to carry Mary downstairs, but it is slow going and precarious due to her condition. Over the comms headsets Dirk requests that Gek ask the TV director to delay the opening of the doors, and for Deject, with his first aid skills, to come and help.

Gek, having deposited his rotund cargo outside the buildings doors, heads over to the TV van where the station director is. He notices that the Contract Killers due to enter the building very shortly are already lined up outside, checking their weapons and eying him suspiciously - they don't want anyone to steal their limelight. Bursting into the TV van Gek explains the situation - a pregnant woman being escorted out of the building, more time needed before opening the doors. The director flat out refuses and states that it was the squad's responsibility to clear the building, and anyone caught in the there when the doors opened would just be light entertainment fodder - that's showbiz!.

Gek leaves the TV van and finds Grimmie waiting outside. After explaining the situation they decide to enter the building and help to hold off any nasties that flood out. They intend to get Mary out safe.

Taking up defensive positions outside the basement door, they see Deject, Dirk, Geoff and Mary coming down the stairs. There can be little more than a minute left before the doors open. Deject has detected the movement of several creatures on his motion sensor, and Grimmie can see the Contract Killers eyeballing them from the front door. With aching slowness Mary is escorted to the front door. With what must be mere seconds to spare she is ushered through the front door and into the care of a nearby medic team. The squad emerge from the front doors with camera crew capturing every moment. It might not go out on the GoreZone show, but even so they still think it's a job well done.

Unfortunately Andre Desverger, the contact, disagrees. He storms over and gives them a furious dressing down (again, all of which is captured on camera). He accuses the squad of holding up the show and putting civilians in harm's way. Due to fact they went past their deadline for exiting the building (which should have been 20 minutes before the doors open, not 20 seconds), he deducts a large amount of credits from the BPN reward as a penalty.. The squad tell him to stuff his credits, they are just glad that Mary got out safe. Desverger is on the verge of exploding again when he feels a tap on his shoulder. The not inconsiderable frame of Jacob Haynes, the financier, is hulking behind him. He mutters something into Desverger's ear. The pseudo Frenchman goes pale before storming off back to the TV van.

Haynes congratulates the squad on completing the BPN before turning to leave. Hurrying after him the squad apologise for angering the TV people, and explain their motives. Far from being angry, Haynes actually seems pleased. He offers them all a ride home in his personal hovercar and tells them not to worry about Desverger. He says he will look forward to working with them in future.

Later that evening Dirk receives a phone call from a sheepish sounding Andre Desverger. He thanks them for clearing out the building and informs them they will receive the full reward for the BPN, no penalties. Dirk thanks him, and says it has been the utmost pleasure working with him. Without saying anything, Andre hangs up.
