So Fresh And So Clean: WiiWare: Original Downloadable Games Confirmed For Wii
It's been talked about, wished for, longed for, and is now confirmed: Nintendo will soon be offering original titles for download on the Wii. You'll pay for them with Wii Points, just like the Virtual Console, except these will be brand-new titles.N'Gai has the scoop over at Newsweek, where he also lets us know that Nintendo aren't just courting established developers, they've put the word out for indie games as well, with a big emphasis on short, creative titles (small teams, big ideas).
Finally, Nintendo will be responsible for the price of the games (each will be looked at on a game-by-game basis) and things like bug-checking, but developers will need to get off their arse and secure their own ratings (no AO allowed, of course).
