My Details Let Me Show You Them: Loads Of Metroid Prime 3 Details
The gang at Play magazine got to play Metroid 3 a little while back. As they were no doubt obliged to do, they've written about their experiences, thus letting us all know some of the things we can expect from the game when it turns up. It all sounds a bit promising:
- Wii Remote controls work better than the old dual-thumbstick ones.
- It's got beam stacking, ala Super Metroid.
- The endless Metroid back-tracking makes (apparently) more sense.
- It's got larger environments, better textures and BLOOM LIGHTING.
- Play believe, in their own opinion, that it could well be the "biggest revolution in FPS gaming since Halo".
Let's get this bloom lighting party started like it's 2005! More, slightly-spoilerish, less boastful info over at Go Nintendo. Luke Plunkett

The 3D Metroid games, share the same history as the Digital Devil Saga and Atelier Iris games do for me, in that I only recently picked them up, bought both original and sequel at once, and only played part-way through the first one.
All were a "I can't believe I missed this" moment, but don't stand up that well to my more immediate gaming choices. This release, while a big one for the Wii, doesn't get me hugely excited.
It still has promise, as the Wii controls give a new element, and the series has never been a standard FPS, having big bosses more reminiscent of the Zelda series.

As far as Im concerned, the last biggest 'revolution' in fps' was persistent stats for multiplayer, since then its been a case of better gui's and easier matchmaking, as much as I love Halo and Halo 2, I dont regard them as revoultions as such, even though I will be buying Halo 3 and enjoying it so hard it will be sexual.

For single player gaming, more intelligent-seeming AI is a biggie for me.
Perhaps the next revolution will be in persistent FPS worlds, where everyone the player meets is a real person. The opposite of MMORPGs, where you start off all safe, in an MMOFPS you pick a side and are instantly fighting it out with other noobs who picked the other one.
