That Populous: Age of Chaos caused a rather nasty crash for me fairly quickly. Probably best avoided until it's out of its beta stage.

Well there was a Populous 2, although I think it's actually more indistinct. With DOSBox you can change the speed, with CTRL+F11/F12 I think.

Populous 2 actually works pretty well in Dosbox, I had a go a while back and played it for quite a while. It still doesn't have the charm of the original though.
