Apparently Simon knocked down a bunch of the signs.
Fucking good work there gents. After reading the fallout on the other forums I'm really tempted to either start winding up Lukas Alexander on account of him being a tit, or create an alt and try and act just like him because people like him really liven the game up.
I see there was a verbal scuffle between Eion and Rob on the main boards. Would you like me to present the arguments as to why some player-made rules are beneficial for the game? Or would you prefer to forget it ever happened, since I hear 5punk had nothing to do with the Derbian sign spam? I'm not interested in making enemies for Derby, so I'd prefer to discuss this with you like reasonable human beings.
I'm quite sure we're all capable of understanding the benefits of player made rules.
However, 5punkers are also quite capable of judging which rules should be broken, and do so
The no signs/spam etc in derby one is complete and utter bullshit. I for one will spend all of my derby alt's AP on fucking about planting signs there.
Oi. And I spent my day clearing out signs. As a result, neither of us actually gains anything for the day. How about, instead of just wasting AP inconveniencing each other, we actually talk about it? I'm not going to demand you obey the law or else because we'rederbyslegalgovernment, blah blah blah. You wouldn't buy it, and I wouldn't blame you. So instead, I'm going to explain our point of view.
Reasons I can think of off the top of my head for no sign spam:
1. It's ugly. All those signs make for a really ugly screen.
2. It's pointless. Signs are meant to convey information. I have no problem with a humorous sign if it's clever. Running gags can be funny. However, jokes get old. I'm sure you'll agree with that.
3. What message does it convey? If you're a newcomer to Shartak and you see crude jokes in EVERY SINGLE SQUARE, what will that tell you about the Shartak community? Shartak is my favorite game, and I'd like to see the community grow beyond 1100. I don't think random sign spam is going to help.
I'm sure there are more, and I'll think of them should the need arise. I haven't even consulted with the rest of the EF gang to see why they made that rule. These are just my reasons.
You'll have to excuse James, he isn't used to things like the way you 5punkers run things. I think he means to say "LOL U GUYS ARE FUNNIE BUT PLZ YOU MIGHT BRAEK TEH GAME WITH you're JOKES. PLZ I DON'T WANT BROKN GAEM."
And plus I heard him say that codpieces were out of style. It's true, he said it.
In fairness, Black Joe is being pretty reasonable, at least when compared to RobZombie/Kjendlie/etc. (I know that's damning by faint praise, but anyway...)
Some player-made rules certainly have benefits, but what we have here is a bunch of people who get together, decide they're going to be enforcers for a town, extort money from players, make up a set of arbitrary rules, and kill whoever breaks them (using the rules to excuse their PKing).
A group protecting others from random PKing, fine. A group oppressing the townsfolk, not fine. That's why the Colon Police (RIP) were set up.
