TECH DEMOs (demii?)

Know any other game that has these things? So far I've seen the ones from squaresoft's PC ported titles. It's a nice idea, a small download that will let me test if their game will run well on my system, since almost every box-written system requirement I've encountered are full of crap. I guess if it shows something at 3 fps, it counts as "working".

I know game demos will do the same thing, but I've been snooping around and I saw that the downloads themselves are so big that I might as well just download pirated full versions.

800mb for a 3 level demo? FUCK THEM IN THE ASS. HARD.

I usually take the "recommended settings" as the minimum.

Unfortunately, I suspect demos are the best you'll get in most cases.

However, the problem with demos is that patches etc. will often change the performance of a game greatly, meaning that the performance of a demo can be totally different to the performance of the game.

Best bet is recommended specs and some hoping.
