The other thing that often incites a more aggressive response is when you pick up what you think is an air duster and spray it on the back of someone's neck, but it actually turns out to be foaming cleaner for LCDs (made by the same manufacturer and in a disconcertingly similar-looking can).Sheriff Fatman wrote:

Most BIOS will have a readout, or you can download 3rd party progs that translate these into a nifty windoze interfarce. If you have an ASUS mobo fx, the CD comes with a nifty little tool called PCProbe that shows voltages, fan speeds and temps and even lets you tweak them all on the fly, if you're rich enough.Hehulk wrote:*goes a bit off topic

This is because the probes on computers aren't calibrated well, so the actual numbers you see will have no relation to reality or other machines.
Obviously, hotter is usually worse, but it's a case of working out what is hot for your machine.
*I like coretemp because it's very reliable between machines
