If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Well, the good news is it doesn't sound like a hardware fault. Other than that I'm not sure.

You know what?

This happens to me on occasion, I have trawled the internet looking for solutions, this resulted in fail so now whenever I have to use itunes I simply curse it's unholy name, kick my PC in the shins and then forget about till it happens again.

Oh, if you do find a solution please let me know

Edit: for reference I have a Lite-on and an NEC drive
