Right my tech support bitches, my question is as follows:
If i leave my printer to decay without being used (or even installed) for a year or two, is it possible that the ink has dried up? And if so, is there anyway to get the bitch flowing again? Licking it maybe?
I have a Lexmark X1150 with a built in scannermeebob, and it has worked in the past. Opening the case while it tries to print reveals the colour and black ink running around as they should, and all signs are currently pointed at buying new ink
An ethanol based substance helped me once. I used a cotton bud with vodka to clean the printer heads on my Epson 880 as they had too dried up. Took some perseverance but I got there.
I've used water in the past, at least on HP carts.
Distilled, or at least boiled water probably helps avoid crusty bits forming later, but I've usually done it to revive carts as a last ditch and tossed them after.
I cleaned it up nice with some vodka, but its still giving me no love so i might just scrap them and start fresh. Might stick it in the dishwasher later for kicks though
