5punk wiki stuff

Post by Dr. kitteny berk »

Would it be possible to either

Get the front page of the wiki unlocked, so it can be fixed and made useful.

Or raise some of us to sysops, so we can fix the front page and make the wiki useful.

unlike the glorified faq page it is now, which is useless and an insult to the wiki format.

Also, can we have image uploads enabled? read this

Some sort of contents or index, preferably automatically, but maybe manually generated seems to be something lacking in most wikis.

You search, and sometimes come across cross-reference links, but you can't just browse, or read it "all" from the beginning.

unfortunately, the 5punk wiki front page is pretty weird as far as wikis go - they'll usually point you to the general bits of info you're likely to need (see this)

which is good, however, locking a wiki down with a useless frontpage is well. FAIL.

Like I said, I haven't spent much time on it, as Wiki creation has quite a steep learning curve if you want it to be really useful.
Thanks for pointing out how utterly shit it is though and making me sound like a spastic :likesitall:

I dont think he was insulting you so much as the way it was laid out, come on chaps, pull together. Group hug etc.
I'll get some stuff put up and sorted out and we can all have a sit down with a packet of jaffa cakes and a mug of tea.

/homely.

The first article is up, I'll put new ones up periodically, starting with the most played games.

Please add your name to the below wiki page by clicking edit at the top of the said page,
then following the instructions left in the comment marks. '<!-- .... -->'.
An example has already been left by myself!

I have done as you asked,it put it right after it, not on the next line, wasn't sure how you wanted it, and seeing as you didn't mention new line, I didn't bother. Just incase you wanted it like that, I have said it here.

I was going to have it next-line, but that looks fine really. The small 'external link' marker seperates each name well enough. I'll get on an make a COD entry tomorrow, I will need people to help me compile the information, and I'll ammend it to conform to wiki guidelines :)

Just thought this would be useful to some people:
The wiki hidden comment thingy wrote:Please add your 5punk Username with a link to your 5punk profile below this line. Please attempt to keep the list in Alphabetical order for ease of browsing. Links should be formatted as [http://5punk.co.uk/your_profile/ [SPACE] Your name]

(Yeah I re-alphabetised it for you - GCSE English finally pays off...)

Added a little FACK bit to allow for a set of FAQs, rather that a more general set of info like the main page is.

Dear 5punky overlords.
Can I have a little more* control over the wiki?
There are pages I'd like to delete instead of redirect, as it just makes things messy.

Interesting selection of artists*, although I couldn't get it to display any more weeks.

* Front242, King Kurt, Wang Chueng

(Admits Fedde La Grand and Bodyrox was him)
