If we got 10, we get our special group rate £15. Payment needs to be made as one, anyone want to volunteer? If not, I can handle payments. Paypal/Cheque/Postal Order/Registered Cash. But first, who is coming?

Front Page
THE NEXT LAN IS October 20-22, 2006.

Book now and avoid disappointment!

We are a small and friendly gaming community who play for laughs and for fun. We do our best to provide you with the best informal Lanning experience we can, at the same time providing reliable gaming servers, internet access and some great competitors whilst you join others in some fab games which include, of course, Valve's very own Half-Life! Come and win the prizes donated from our sponsors and have some fun t'boot!

Read some of the previous Lan comments to see how people keep coming back from more

Pop into the forums at www.gametribe.net/forums and come along and have a banter!

Location
Brownhills Activity Centre,
Corner of Chester Road North and Pelsall Road, Brownhills,
West Midlands,
WS8 7JW

Facilities
Information I found on the net about the building:

The old Brownhills "Central" Boys School. At the junction of Pelsall Road and the Chester North Road. The building dating from 1893, was designed for 210 boys & girls & 120 infants. Attended by both boys and girls untill 1932. It finally closed in 1980 when it (and the Girls High School ) were replaced by the Community School.

We are in the far end of the building, a sort of self contained end. A kitchen with an over, two fridges and a microwave. Generous toilets, a large room to game in and a smaller room just off that as a quiet room, which most people found easy to sleep in. The place is centrally heated and is perfectly snug in the winter and has plenty of parking to the rear of the building. We also have a net connection too!

The town itself is small but there is a good sized 24hr Tesco's round the corner and various eating places, so you will not be short of take-away places.

It’s not far from Pelsall (if you ever went to a KIA Lan, and about 15 miles from Birmingham town centre.)

Any other questions, please ask!

Cost
Please contact Loxy to reserve your place and send a cheque, payable to

Carol Hall,
Alexandra Gardens,
Knaphill,Woking
Surrey,
GU21 2DH

NOW to benefit from the discounted price and GUARANTEE your space now! Please don’t forget to include your name, address and nickname, so I know who you are!

£20 (Prepay)
£21 Paypal
£25 (At event)
Spectators free!

If we get 10, we go for £15 each.
I will deal with Payments if this happens, unless you want someone else too?

What you will need
In addition to your own food and drink, sleeping bag and pillow - you will also need the following:

* Your computer
* Monitor
* Keyboard
* Mouse
* Joystick (if you use one)
* 1 meter extension cable (if possible)
* Headphones (not speakers)
* Power cables
* Your Windows CD
* Any games you wish to play

When you arrive - you simply set up on the network with your games and play!!

Networking
The entire network is running on 10/100 MBit switches (UTP connections). This should suit the most popular network cards out there!

All the web/ftp/game-servers run on one main 'satellite' switch, then each area has it's own switch that links straight back to the servers, so no 'daisy chained' switches here!

If you have a 10 MBit card in your machine, this will be fine for gaming, but you will suffer a little if you're transferring files. Take the plunge! Upgrade at the LAN to 100 MBit speediness! (See below)

Network cards will be available at the event, these are D-Link 10/100 switchable cards.

£7.50 for just the card and driver disk.
£10 if you want it fitted and tweaked!

THESE CARDS MUST BE ORDERED IN ADVANCE THOUGH, PLEASE SUBMIT REQUIREMENTS AND PAYMENT WITH YOUR PAYMENT TO GUARANTEE YOUR PLACE!

oh and KNOW your LOCAL admin passy!

Sponsors
Valve Software - creators of HALF-LIFE

PLUS
Nvidia - graphics cards and motherboard manufacturers

I think I've asked this before somewhere, but are there any showers there? Having to spend all weekend festering in my own filth is a real show-stopper for me.

There aren't working one's unfortunately (we keep on at them to be mended). But you can take a flannel and a towel, the loos are pretty decent size size, you can fill a basin with loverly hot water and they provide soap, so you can have a good wash there. It's what I do basically (I do use the ladies rather than the gents loo's though) - and that way I don't smell anything other than sweet all weekend. :)

To be honest - it depends. The last Lan was cancelled about 2 weeks before hand due to lack of people - however it was holiday time and generally the June Lan's are quieter than the Oct or Feb ones. I've not had to cancel one before, but I won't run one at a loss. So, it will be based on CONFIRMEDattendee's. I have another forum that usually has a decent attendance and I will keep the list up to date. Should I cancel, refunds will of course be provided. At the moment the attendance is as follows:

http://www.gametribe.net/gtlan

Confirmed Attendees
Jugger
Loxy
Baity
Manix
Ma-harg
Bandit
Logger
Si

Now I need at least 25 people paid up front to ensure that the rent is covered. I will keep you posted with regard to attendee's (it was part of my sig, but they are turned off! :P ).

Machines remain available for hire if people don't want to lug theirs - and they are included in with the entrance fee, but simply need to be reserved in advance. I think there are about 10 - possibly less.

I hope that enough to keep you all going - I maintain that it would be good to have your possé there!

Ohh bit of a rock man are you?

You need to pool with other Lan go-ers on the Friday or Saturday night and get a cab into the city, and take yourself off to Scruffy Murphy's - near the Carling Accedemy - open til late and playing some real decent music.

There is a place called Costers round the corner which was superb, then the owners decided to turn the lights up so you could see who you were drinking with and take away the DJ - now it's just not the same!!
