Films based on games

Post by Woo Elephant Yeah »

After recently watching Resident Evil, and Doom (and enjoying them both) I thought it might be an idea to come up with a comprehensive list of all the films that have been based on a game (and not the other way around).

I'll start with the few I know of, but I know there are lots more

Doom
Resident Evil
Resident Evil : Apocalypse

It was directed by the game's creator. It starred both Freddie Prinze Jr and Matthew Lillard who both went on to star in Scooby Doo.

Berk pretty much blew me out of the water on that one, but there was a Jackie Chan film called City Hunter that had a brilliant Street Fighter 2 scene. I think we might have mentioned it before somewhere actually...

Also, whoever quotes the first four words of this post: It's not big or clever*

Doesn't really add anything to the list and I can't think of any others.

Having a look at IMDb:

- We have the crap Uwe Boll is churning out, Postal, Far Cry and his next released based on the Dungeon Seige games.
- Metroid is due to be released this year, but no with no director so not much chance of that.
- And of course there's Halo, latest is that Denzel Washington may be up to play the lead but that's unlikely. How is he going to pull his oscar winning hurt expression when he's wearing a helmet?

Fortunately for Stallone he doesn't do much acting with his head, mostly his body and voice.

Stallone has done some good stuff, he received an Oscar for Rocky and Cop Land is fucking ace (admittedly a great supporting cast, but still very good :)
