I can't understand it. What are they doing? If I was them I'd be flooding the market with games, but all I see in the "soon" lists that's isn't also/already available on PC is GTA4 in October. About a month before the PS3 supposedly has it as a release title.
It's done crap in Japan, which they reportedly
expected, so what are they waiting for? By Christmas it will be too late, Sega consoles had a bit of a history of coming out first, then dying on their arses. Despite this, I clung to them until the death - but it was for the games, certain titles would eclipse anything in my XFire profile.
The original reason I have an Xbox in my house is the remade Dreamcast titles, but the continuing reason is exclusive games and marginally better examples of cross-platform ones as the 'box had the superior hardware. Now that's all gone, the quirky titles I enjoy are destined for PS3 or Wii, and right or wrong people assume the later-released hardware is the more powerful.
Pretty much every casual gamer I know wants a PS3, even if they have no clue what games will be on it, I predict Sony will sell like a million before they even drop the price.
I guess it's mostly out of MS's hands - game developers won't sign exclusive agreements as the current user base severely limits profits, and MS can't pay them enough to do so without making a game financially non-viable. Under their control are Forza 2 and Halo 3 - but they are set to drop so late (early/mid November) that the fat lady will have packed up her mic and be in a taxi on the way home.
Existing 360 owners will have one full month of ectasy this autumn as they lord it over the rest of us about how fantastic GTA4 and the
racing game-de-jour are, the rest of us will be putting our pennies securely in our piggy-banks and preparing to be smug.
