Fw4ppers - How to join 5punkorp

Post by friznit »

ninja mod edit: this is a thread about our feeder corp, whilst you learn the ropes, this corp is safer and more protected than 5punkorp, but we're still the same group of people, brought together by 5punk. 5punkorp itself has dangers and rewards far beyond that which Empire space can offer you so the progression will always be fw4p first, 5punk when you're ready!

Cos you need to Fwap before you can 5punk!

Our hard working and long suffering American rep, Dres Kanierdan(CentreEdgeDesign here on the forum), has been co-erced/ volunteered/ forced into the role as a brand new CEO of a yet to be founded feeder corp for 5punkorp. The premise behind this being mainly that it'll keep 5punkorp itself trim (ISS fees notwithstanding) and also avoid our important new blood getting thwacked by war targets before they really know what a 425mm Compressed Rail actually is.

The details have yet to be worked out, but once they are I like to revamp a few of the useful stickies, and the Beginners' Web Page to make them more welcoming. In other words, I'd like to see a complete Welcome Package for new players that takes them from Day One (post tutorial) to their first trip down to the POS in a BC, at about which point they can 'graduate' to 5punkorp proper (or by all means before if they wish, but it's at about this point, I am sure you will agree, that they can reasonably be expected to look after themselves).

We can provide training, assistance, a little isk, ships and above all a friendly and welcoming hand to get people into this great game. All we ask in return is commitment and playing as part of the team.

We have the best corp ethos that I have seen in any guild, corp, gang or group. Let us strive to maintain and build on it and not be just another faceless n00b-ripping corporate powerhouse.

I now have a mental image of 5punkorp train-spotting. :)

Fairly, OT, but I'm gona guess you mean a 425mm Compressed Coil Railgun :)

EDIT: arse, I'm slightly off. It's a 425mm Compressed Coil Gun. Little difference in effect, but I like being right

FW4PPERS IS ALIVE!!!!

On only my second attempt, I got Fw4ppers up and running! Had some naming issues that didn't seem to make much sense, and the logo is really weird to work on, but finally worked out something simple and hopefully not too disgusting. As I'm sure everybody has seen, I created a channel for fw4ppers, which will be our primary discussion/question/fw4pping channel,{ but I'm going to instruct anyone that joins to also monitor x-5punkers] (Strike that part, as many 5punkers have kept an ear in the fw4ppers channel, and this has proven unnecessary), as that's where 5punk proper bums. That way we (fw4ppers) can hopefully build our knowledge base, and have 5punkers as backup. If any 5punkers want to monitor and assist on the fw4ppers channel, please feel free, but I am going to ask them to try to use the fw4ppers channel first, to avoid any huge amount of dialogue on x-5punkers, so we don't mess up any scouting/haul communications.

Cherise should have interracial relations learned this afternoon, then I'm training Dres on connections and negotiating to help get fw4ppers station standing up faster. After that Dres will probably just train up on Cruiser/weapon/drone/BC skills until I can rebuild his ISK account some, as setting up the fw4ppers whilst the corp is low on cash has tapped him a bit.
We have headquarters in Khank, but unfortuneatley, there wasn't office space there for us, so I set up in Tanoo, which is close by. Kinda sucks that I couldn't find that out (about the office space) until I had formed the corp. Oh well.

Any pointers/hints/suggestions are appreciated! And kudos to Hehulk and Fab for the donations whilst I was switching back and forth to set this all up. IOU's are on file, I promise!

Oh, and once I have some up-and-5punking initiates, I'll have Dres rejoin 5punkorp. Until then I'll just be a free-contract 5punker!

Cheers!

Nice one Dres :)

Half the people who join 5punkorp seem to sit quietly in x-5punkers and then vanish again. Hopefully Fw4ppers will be more of a user friendly environment where newer players won't feel like they're out of their depth (I was pretty much spoon-fed 1 on 1 through my first month by Hehulk) and can ease into Eve with a gentler learning curve.

One of my goals is to get a group of noobs started at the same time that can help each other with basics and such, so they won't be stuck until they get an answer for a question. Kinda like 'hmm, we're stuck on this mission, so you start one and we'll work on that until we get an answer' type thing. Ganging up on work more too, hopefully....

Like most great ideas, the test of whether or not I can pull it off will be the most important.

(but I am stocked up on all sizes of spoon....)

Spoons are good, especially in eve. Yet to meet a lifer who didn't ask 20 questions when they started (case in point, I asked hundreds. Ask Roman :)), so if it happens, it's a damn good sign.

Sounds like a good plan!

After an intial review of the time I spent playing this week, I'm probably going to put EVE on hold for a bit while I get some work sorted - i'll just be on occassionally to top up skills. But I'm pretty certain I'm going to subscribe when the trial runs out, so count me in.

Also if I was quiet on the channel, I think its mainly because I was alt-tabbing out to look at b3ta while I was warping around on the noob missions :)

Good job :)
Just make you keep the personal 'touch' in both senses of the word. Coming into the big bad world of eve is a daunting experience, so make sure the fwappers are nice and accessible and fun! Congratulations on thinking up such a fantaaaastic idea.

Update-----

We've two active Fw4ppers, Sam Berris, and Tylorva. Laggez hasn't been in touch lately, so if he doesn't give an indication of wanting to participate, I'll have to let him go, or otherwise just revoke his access to the hangars at least. I've asked Sam to work on recruiting a bit, and offered her a bounty of 100K for a new Fw4pper. This bounty will be paid for every recruit a Fw4pper brings in, once they have been at least partially active for a week. I think we've got a great group started, and I want to keep that building, as a larger group can do more interesting things, like take on bigger missions, rat in lower security, and such forth.

Offices

I've gotten us four offices now, mostly based around ammatar consulate agents. That way you can work up the agent levels, and sooner or later have stocked hangars to refit out of should mission requirements dictate. I know of one level one mission that requires a frigate, and having to fly all over to get a frigate and outfit it can be a pain. So hopefully having offices in these stations will help offset some of this 'running around'

Agents

I've also given Sam Berris the mission of finding us other level one agents from different factions. With the new expansion coming, it offers factional warfare. This could be a problem if we're too aligned with a faction and they are at war with somebody we are not aligned with. So once we identify other factions, I may give a Fw4pper a mission of getting our standing up with a faction by running some mission. That said, I'd like all Fw4ppers to train the following skills to level III ASAP, connections, and negotiations. They will help you get better standing faster, and help you get more isk for the work you do. Both pretty good things.. :)

Loot:

Keep cleaning up all that loot after battles, it's worth alot! If it's something that we can use, great, otherwise we can sell it (isk gain) or we can melt it (minerals gain) Even just the 'shinys' left from drones break down into things we can use to build ships.

Enough for now, I don't want to overload anyone. On one last note about agents, check out the player guide's entry on agents on the Eve website, as it explains in detail how individual standing with NPC corps and agents work.

Good Fw4pping!
