Good Luck 007

Review

What can be said about this game that hasnt been said before? Released in 1996 on the Nintendo 64 as one of the launch titles it quickly became one of the greatest games ever made and can still hold its own against some of the recent games of our times. The most realistic graphics at the time of release and incredibly easy to pick up contols made this a firm favourite with young and old alike, My mates dad played it and he was 47 at the time and my friends brother who was 7 at the time could hold his own.

Singleplayer: The single player was a dream come true for die hard 007 fans following the films story exactly apart from a few packing levels e.g. Surface and the Silo. All of the films main characters made an appearance or two and the detail of the characters allowing you to tell who you were talking to evn if you played the game before watching the film, as soon as they appeared onscreen you knew who they were. All the favourite guns made an appearance including the Walther PPK and AK-47 with the golden gun making an appearance in its own bonus level (Aztec).
With 3 different difficulty levels and lots of cheats to unlock it made the replay ability of the singlpayer missions a huge part of the reason so spend 40 pounds on a copy, even today my N64 makes the odd drunken appearance (More recently on my N64 emulator).

Multiplayer: Now this was what made the game a huge sucess all over the world!!! With all the charecters from singleplayer to choose from and some bonus ones, lots of different weapon types and 12 or 16 levels to choose from it was a true if not the first ever fully customasible multiplayer ever. Who can remember getting 3 mates round and setting the game type to The Man with the Golden Gun and proceeding to play away for 3 or 4 hours only stopping to get food or visit the toilet, the scraming and shouting as the golden gun rang out from the darkness killing instantly or the rocket fest in the caverns??

Overall this was and is still one of the greatest First Person Shooters ever and even now id pick it over some modern games, now i know everyone must have at some point played this game and yes it may seem pointless to post this review, hopefully like me youll run to the attic and blow the dust off your 64, boot up a copy of goldeney and gets some mates around for beer, pizza and a lot of fun.

Overall id rate this as

Score : :starfull: :starfull: :starfull: :starfull: :starfull: :starfull: :starfull: :starfull: :starfull: :starempty:

Singleplayer: 8
Multiplayer: 10

(any mistakes please mention and ill fix em :) )

Nice review, thanks. While it's unlikely I'll be able to get hold of a real copy, I had thought I'd got all the best N64 games, this is one I missed.

I won't quibble over spelling, as the meaning is perfectly clear, and we don't want to discourage anyone from posting reviews.

Will prob change this to a normal post, rather than a poll in a few days, just for neatness, though.

Voted Yes, but maybe stick to the template provided, including Sights and Sounds section etc.

Other than that it made me very nostalgic!, hours of late night fun at Uni, we even played the single player together taking it in turns to try and beat the level times to unlock the cheats

Like Bobbins suggested, the template leads to slightly more structured reviews, but twas good nevertheless. As far as multiplayer console games go, this was one of the most enjoyable I've ever played.

The poll is missing the "wurd" option tho.
