Re: Blood Bowl - Return of the Keys Bowl
Final game in the BB2 knockout has been played, ending 3-2 to Joose. It was a violent game which went to extra time, by which time there had been four deaths (one was apoc'd) and four injuries. I had four players on the pitch at the end of normal time. Very good game, I'm happy with my performance and Joose got a well deserved win. Worth watching the replay for the sheer Blood Bowlness of it.

That was a tough game. One of the deaths was one of my ghouls that was a smidge away from getting a skill, but it was slightly made up for by getting a free zombie. Quite why resurrecting a skaven gives you a zombie human is a question possibly best not asked.
There was some excellently ratty plays in there, particularly the moment where a gutter runner dodged out of what I *thought* was an airtight cage. It was ultimately a battle of attrition though; Pants put up an excellent defence all things considered, but theres limits to what anyone can do against a full team when you only have 4-5 guys left on the pitch.

Just watched it, superb game of Blood Bowl.
Surprised at Joose's team suffering two deaths, especially with one being a skeleton as they're very hard to kill. I think it was actually a fairly close game, attrition aside, the big thing tipping the balance was probably Pantsu's Rat Ogre being out for most of it and a Joose causing a lot of stunned and KO's in quick succession on a couple of occasions.
Time for a new BB2 cup or league so bits can join us? (and Fab if he buys BB2)

I'm up for more, although I'm not sure I enjoy squidgy Skaven so much.

Re: Blood Bowl - Return of the Keys Bowl
So I've been dabbling with a solo Chaos team as I normally avoid bashy teams.
They're bloody difficult to start off with, especially when your first games are against Undead, another Undead and then Dwarves. With a fresh Human team or High Elves you've got a some skills in the squad, so can play a mix of a throwing and running game. High Elves just rely on your AG4 rather than the former's rerolls from skills, but they both have effective strategies from the start.
Chaos though? No skills. Beastman's horns make them useful blitzers for surgical strikes, but not having claws or mighty blow on any team member means SPP is hard to come by as you simply aren't causing injuries (especially against basier teams with higher AV).
This makes it very difficult to capitalise on the Chaos Warriors increased ST, although AV9 means they can soak up a bit of damage. I've been relying on MVP and then making sure the players on 5/6 SPP recieve the ball and attempt some passes to push to their first level for the most part.

I like Chaos. Their lack of skills is their biggest disadvantage, but they have decent stats for their roles and the Beastmen are similar to Human linemen in utility. If you manage their XP you can produce some decent specialists. They'll never be more than a bash team though - a throwing game just takes too much skill diversion from the job of fighting, and a lucky double or two might produce a decent runner, but they'd be a special tactic player. Once they've skilled up they're monsters, and in the difficult early games rerolls are your best friend.
