And I would want this why?

Re: Movie Trailers
I dunno chaps.
I just can't get enthused about 90 minutes of CGI robots smashing and being smashed by CGI monsters. I'd probably be more interested if it was one or two big set pieces and the crescendo building up to them, but that trailer really makes it look as if it's going to be six or seven big set piece battles loosely linked by something vaguely resembling a plot (monsters appear, humans fight back, humans nearly lose, humans hunker down and come back kicking).
I've possibly gone very wrong, but I just can't get excited about action for the sake of it being action any more.

Re: Movie Trailers
You're such a hipster buzz.
Re: Movie Trailers
I would agree with you, hence my thoughts on superhero sequels a bit ago, but not when it comes to giants robots vs monsters. They do have to pull it off just right though, more so than for other stuff, or it will be a big dud.buzzmong wrote:I just can't get excited about action for the sake of it being action any more.

What struck me the most is that Charlie from Always Sunny in Philadelphia is in it. Great show and the best character in it.

Ah, I've just ordered the first series of this as I've heard it's very good. Reminds me, I need to update the tv reviews thread with the crap I was watching during my internetless sojourn.spoodie wrote:What struck me the most is that Charlie from Always Sunny in Philadelphia is in it. Re: Movie Trailers
So many movies...I agree with most of what cracked say, there were western eras, action eras, thriller eras, stonkingly bad teen horror eras...doesn't mean those styles of movies go away, they just get made less and take second place to whatever new style is making waves (though admittedly this does mean that they get less budget which normally means worse writing/acting/directing etc) I think the first massively bad supers movie will be the end of it - and I've never touched guardians but that could well be it.

Re: Movie Trailers
Yeah, I agree with most of what they are saying but I'm not convinced its as much of a revelation as they seem to be making out. Trends happen, film genres tend to come and go a bit. Yes, and..? Is there really anyone who thinks that we will have nothing but unending streams of superhero films for the rest of time? I'm a comics fan and even I can see that would be a terrible thing.

Ender's Game

From the trailer is looks quite faithful to the book. And I'm interested to see how effective the young actors are at portraying some quite brutal characters, especially for children. Ender looks a little old, but that's probably for the best in a film.

Whoops! Surely one that'll benefit from an IMAX viewing.

Another Superman trailer

Warning: looks awesome but contains considerable amount of action and set pieces in contrast with previous trailers.

Re: Movie Trailers
I thought that and avoided watching it. I've already got tickets to a showing, so don't need trailer based encouragement.Roman Totale wrote:Warning: looks awesome but contains considerable amount of action and set pieces in contrast with previous trailers.

New Pacific Rim trailer:

Same warning as above: Lots of action and maybe spoilery.

Re: Movie Trailers
That shit's so exhilarating I'm waiting to see it fully, even if there aren't spoilers. I think they're showing off way too much of the monsters though. Maybe they're not going for the big reveal for a film like this but I'd rather not spoil their appearance.

Re: Movie Trailers
I'm quite liking how man of Man of Steel looks in the trailers.
The only thing that sort of makes me raise an eyebrow is that there seems to be lots of different action pieces in that trailer. Obviously some are probably just snippets of the same scene in different places, but I'm hoping it's not just a full on action romp.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Look kids - Legolas!
I heard that Viggo Thingyface turned down the chance to appear in the film as, in his words, "Aragorn wasn't in the Hobbit".
