Arma 3
As we don't have Trev - http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/06 ... 3-footage/
This looks very impressive and makes me excited about the future of PC gaming in general. Although I'm unlikely to ever play this particular game as it'll be too complicated.

Re: Arma 3
Aye, saw this yesterday. It's not out till next Summer though. I think 2012 might be a bumper year.
Re: Arma 3
With Red Orchestra and BF3 at the end of the year also it's looking like a turning point for the pretty dull PC man shoot scene.
Re: Arma 3
Red Orchestra 2 looks awesome. Armas are strange fish, some I like and some I don't.
Re: Arma 3
Gamescom footage of ArmA3. Looks like they're trying to go further into the open world rpg-ish type stuff than before, which may or may not be interesting or horribly broken.

Re: Arma 3
Only had a quick skip through, seems to be a massive improvement over Arma II's engine, while retaining the same look and feel from the menus and such.
Hopefully it won't contain the same bugs.

Playable alpha coming post E3 so the community can help BIS do a load of bug squashing. I'm optimistic.

Re: Arma 3
Everything BIS has said so far has been quite good - 'massive' island, proper physics engine and being careful to ensure backward compatability so the bajillion mods that make ArmA great will be relatively easy to port over. I can pretty much guarantee the SP will be shit, cos BIS have never got that bit right, but the new engine and ability to script directly in Java should make for some epic mods in the future.

I especially like the new stance options and the ability to pop up, that's certainly going to make a massive difference on how you use cover. It also something I could see being *very* useful in DayZ when it does eventually get ported accross.

Though the walking animation looks like they trying to have a shit.
Re: Arma 3
Anyone have ArmA 2 & OA that doesn't play it anymore? I need to steal a couple of CD Keys to make Headless Clients on my dedi box - basically they'll be used on a private server only, never go anywhere near public servers or BattleGay so even if you do decide to play again it won't cause an issue. You just won't be able to join the VCB server. And fuck playing real monies, sale or not!
Re: Arma 3
I've got OA you can have, I only ever use it for playing DAYZ
Re: Arma 3
I'm actually sorted already from another source...but thanks anyway! I may need a third at some point, and will be sure to give you a poke!

Re: Arma 3
ARMA III, now a Steam exclusive.
Considering the woes that were patching ARMA II, and just how buggy it was at launch (and can still be), then if this allows BI to make a much better game I'm all for it.
The bonuses of delta patching, Steam Workshop and all the rest of Steam's features are just icing on the cake really.

Re: Arma 3
The amount of rage and hate at the decision is hilariously typical of the interwebs, with people making wild accusations about DRM, bribery, sellling their souls and punching kittens. From my point of view it's a good move though.
Re: Arma 3
Alpha released today for 20 squids on Steam or BI Store. If you buy the alpha, you get a couple of free keys to give a 'limited alpha' away - basically that just gives you the 'experience' zones with no map editor or multiplayer, so you can at least see if it runs on your machine.
I will be purchasing later, so if anyone wants a limited alpha key, gimme a shout.

Re: Arma 3
I expect to see that on ITV news as "actual footage of terrorists" some time soon, it certainly had me convinced.
