Re: Movie Trailers
I didn't know they finally made this. No Bruce Campbell in sight*, but the tree rape and the chainsaw are present so that's something.
*he probably has a cameo somewhere.

Cor, that's nasty. I'm actually pretty interested to see Evil Dead remade as an actual horror film rather than a schlok-gore comedy. Is it Sam Raimi?

Yus, but producing alongside Bruce Campbell rather than directing.Dog Pants wrote:Cor, that's nasty. I'm actually pretty interested to see Evil Dead remade as an actual horror film rather than a schlok-gore comedy. Is it Sam Raimi?
Thing is, I dunno about this. The first Evil Dead was a horror film in my eyes. The sequels added the comedy, but I felt the first was a pretty serious horror flick. As such, I'm not sure why it needs a remake apart from just upping the gore levels, as more gore doesn't equate to an improvement in the film's quality.

Re: Movie Trailers
Raimi has written the screenplay, some junior horror guy from South America somewhere is directing, never heard of him before.

Re: Movie Trailers
Oh, for fucks sake. I was pondering about this the other day and I realised why Die Hard 4 sucked so hard compared to the first three (bullshit hacking stuff aside): it got silly.
All the action and the plot in the first three have an air of plausibility to them, even if the odd scene was pushing it, but DH4 went too far. Scenes like launching the car out the tunnel into the helicopter, or the fucking hatstand F35 scene were just a step too far, going from plausible to outright Hollywood stunt territory.
That and they turned the principle character from being the chap-in-the-wrong-place-at-the-wrong-time-and-just-barely-dealing-with-things into a generic action hero who could cope with anything thrown at him.
The trailer for this doesn't give me much hope they've reigned it in a bit for either point. Still, it'll probably be better than DH4.

Re: Movie Trailers
I didn't see Patrick Stewart as the villain, as rumoured. My interest has gone from mild to none. And it'll probably be 12A and have no real violence or language in it. WTF has happened to action films these days?
Re: Movie Trailers
Money. A 12a will sell a lot more than an 18.
Re: Movie Trailers
Indeed, that film is obviously just another paycheck for Willis.

Re: Movie Trailers
I tried watching DH4 but it was just far too ridiculous, and didn't seem to have the same style and build up of the first 3. This looks very similar so I'll just go back to pretending that the series ended at 3

I read that as paycheck for willies.spoodie wrote:Indeed, that film is obviously just another paycheck for Willis.
I've watched and enjoyed all of them, but there is quite the shift in the levels of grittiness. I would imagine the michael bay effect is why the action is ramped up to ridiculous. The humour injection and balls to the wall pacing are a symptom of the masses of people who can't sit in a cinema for more than an hour or two, plus bruce willies is getting on a bit now so I doubt he gives a shit.

Re: Movie Trailers
Well that's no good. When I heard Brad pitt's company was making it, they forgot to mention he was going to be in it as well. And those zombies remind me of the robot made out of smaller robots from that crazy Indian film.

Re: Movie Trailers
How can they fuck up zombies given all the source material they have explaining how zombies are? Dear god.
