That's exactly what's happening to me, except its happening every few minutes. Ah well.
Your reaction to a GFWL problem is not extreme enough, you haven't even used any CAPITALS or exclamation marks!!!! What are you, a PC gamer or a keyboard and mouse?
I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about GFWL. Other than this, the only problem I've had with it was with Arkham City, and that turned out to be xfires fault. Its not the best thing in the world, but by most peoples reactions to it you would think it is shitting directly into their mouths.

Well, in my case, when I first loaded up Arkham Asylum and got to the main menu, it took me thirty plus minutes of faffing around with GFWL involving closing the game and forcing GWFL to log on by its seperate application (to stop GWFL crashing in game), before I could actually play the game. Which I think is outrageous for a 3rd party and non-critical application.

It caused a few pains with Fallout 3 as well.

It might be better now, but I've been burnt by something which offers me nothing, so it can DIAF.

Really? I never had any GFWL trouble with Fallout 3 at all. What did it do?

I can only remember using GFWL in DoW2, and it was pretty much without problem, but it was an absolutely needless layer of arseing about. What is the purpose of it?

I remember some issues with save games, I also remember for a while that when you got an achievement and the GWFL widget popped up it stole the mouse focus from the game which was only solved by an alt-tab. That only happened a couple of times though.

Achievements? In Iron Brigade's case, it handles matchmaking, since as an Xbox Live Arcade game it's probably the easiest and fastest way to port it over.

When it's working it does make joing multiplayer games with your mates piss easy, and there's the achievements. That's pretty much it though, and both of those things are now covered by Steam, so it is pretty pointless.

I'm not trying to defend it really. I can understand why it frustrates people. I just don't understand why a couple of minor long term bugs and the occasional bit of fucking about needed to make it go in the first place has turned it into the most reviled bit of software in the world of gaming. It seems like its put right up there with Ubi DRM, but by contrast that is a thing that stops some people from playing the game they have bought entirely (unless they crack it). Just seems an excessive response, that's all.

I think it's because if you choose to play those games you're generally forced into using, or at least running, GFWL for what are in most games utterly optional (or should be optional) extra features.

So when people run into problems after being forced into using something which adds very little or nothing to their game experience and which should be entirely optional they tend to get annoyed.
