Sound Card Issue

If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Sound Card Issue

Post by friznit »

So here's a weird one. Everytime I reboot the machine, all my 3rd party progs (games, winamp etc) complain that they can't detect any sound drivers and won't play any sound. Thing is, sound is working hunky dory in windows itself and the startup noises are playing happily. Thought it might be as dsound problem but reinstalling Directx and updating the sound drivers hasn't helped. :(

I'm using the Realtek HD onboard audio on an ASUS mobo at the mo. If this persists I'm gonna fork out for a proper card. Something I been meaning to do anyway. Maybe that new SB thingy? Any opinions on that one yet? Y'know, the one that supposedly does 3D in a pair of headphones. Wassit called... :ahoy:

Anyway, :pie: to the first correct answer on the back of a :ninja: please
