Re: Eclipse Phase: Terminal Velocity
OK, so which one are you going for, the building or the planes?
Re: Eclipse Phase: Terminal Velocity
Okay, pros and cons. If we go for the plane to the space elevator we'll probably find it overrun by people and/or gribblies. If we go for the egocast we might as well just have gone with TSD.
Re: Eclipse Phase: Terminal Velocity
Well seeing as we didn't go with TSD (although at least if we did it this way it would be free or cheaper), and I get the feeling that Joose is going to screw us over either way (a guess not inside knowledge), then I vote for the plane to the next thing up - space elevator or whatever. Hopefully if we meet anybody that's in our way we can just push them out of an airlock.

Re: Eclipse Phase: Terminal Velocity
Plane it is then!
You cross the runway without issue, and the built in stairs to the plane you get to are still working. Inside is a pretty standard affair; its smaller than anything any of you have been on before, more of a private plane than the usual passenger jet. The controls are all automated, just enter your destination and it will take off, fly there and land by itself (as long as nothing too unexpected happens).

Unexpected like robo-jetfighters or swarms of nanobots or nukes? Well here goes. Do we fancy Africa or Japan?

Japan is geologically unstable. I say we go for Africa.Dog Pants wrote:Unexpected like robo-jetfighters or swarms of nanobots or nukes? Well here goes. Do we fancy Africa or Japan?
Re: Eclipse Phase: Terminal Velocity
I reckon our only hope is if the killer robots have eaten everyone and moved on. But for want of any better reason, to Africa!

Re: Eclipse Phase: Terminal Velocity
You enter the details for the airport at the Kilimanjaro space elevator, and the plane calmly taxis to the runway and takes off, without incident. There are rear mounted viewing sensors that show you the ruined airport as you pull up, and you can just see the shapes of what look like a half dozen of those flying beasties bustling around on the other side of the building to where you were. You are too distant to see what they are up to exactly, but whatever it is it seems to be distracting them from you, as they don't look like they are interested in chasing you. It could just be a speed issue of course, the one you fought took a while to catch up to your car, and the plane you are in is going far faster.
As you continue to accelerate upwards, the planes computer informs you that it has had to make a minor course correction to avoid something coming in the other direction. You barely notice the lunge to one side, nestled safely in the cushioned chairs. Moments later, the rear sensors show a bright flash and the bulbous shock wave of a huge explosion before cutting out. Other than the sensors, your plane seems fine.
You have a little bit of flight time before you arrive at Kilimanjaro, anyone want to do anything whilst you go? Now you are up you can leave your seats safely, the plane will tell you when you need to sit down again.

I'll have a poke about for a first aid kit, since I'm still a bit chopped up from that drone.

Re: Eclipse Phase: Terminal Velocity
Erm... Sorry, I'm away from my character sheet and beardyroller at the moment. You can make the roll for me or I can do it tomorrow. Either is fine by me.

Can do:
Roll(1d100)+0:
84,+0
Total:84
Yeesh. You don't find any, even after taking a couple of mins for a good solid look about. Anyone else, or shall I fast forward to the landing?

Scrounging (15) + Spending the Time (30) - Wounded (10): 9, 6: 96 Severe Failure!
oh dear
Speaking of which, has the medic thing I used fixed my wound yet?

Re: Eclipse Phase: Terminal Velocity
Oh, I'll get onto my muse to check out the comms and see if she can get any information on the state of the space elevator, widening her search as she goes. I've got a feeling all manner of nastiness will await us there.

yep, no wound for you any more.deject wrote:Speaking of which, has the medic thing I used fixed my wound yet?
There was a fair amount of coms activity up till about half an hour ago, at which point if went totally quiet. As of that point there were a hell of a lot of people trying to remotely reserve spaces, checking if their friends and family had made it there already, that sort of thing. There's still signs that there are pods going up the lift though, at fairly regular intervals.I'll get onto my muse to check out the comms and see if she can get any information on the state of the space elevator, widening her search as she goes. Re: Eclipse Phase: Terminal Velocity
Well that's a good sign. Wonder how we're going to get ourselves to the front of the queue now. I think we'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it.
