Looks like the site is fixed now, according to a blog post.

Had anyone found any good docs for Technic/Tekkit?

They've moved host so it could be your DNS doesn't know about the change yet and you're being directed to the old site. If needed here's the EXE - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/722828/TechnicLauncher-0.2.exe

I've been using the IndustrialCraft and BuildCraft wikis, since the Technic wiki is pretty sparse (although they're trying to get it running, to their credit). And of course the vanilla wiki. I finally started to learn about redstone last night. I considered making a digital clock in a mountainside.

The Equiv Exchange one has a nice 'getting started' guide. http://equivalentexchange.wikispaces.co ... rted+in+v6

I made an upgraded Diving Rod, Philosopher's Stone, two Alchemical Chests, Talisman of Repair and Transmutation Tablet in the old base, but ran out of glowstone. The portals to the nether don't seem to work anymore, so was a bit stuck. You can transmute coal, but it needs a fuckton.

Edit: Coal, I found a fuckton (someone had left it lying around unguarded in a chest). Now I'm trying to make a Matter Collector into an Antimatter Relay. I don't know why. If someone actually needs the coal back, I can probably transmute something back into it now, like all these diamonds I'm using to encrust my boot-soles.

Once you've started to make the good stuff, all it mostly needs is time to generate even better better stuff, which you can either carry on with or melt down back into the basics - it's quite a nice system.

Yeah, I gave up and went straight to the specific mod wiki as well and only playing with IndustrialCraft so far. The list of mods in the pack is daunting and certainly explains the crazy shit I've seen. The Yogscast videos are an easy way to start, but I've moved past them now. I started on the IC wiki tutorial. I got as far as making a few machines, powered by one generator and a solar panel via a batbox. Seems like you can run 5 IC machines from one generator supplied with fuel and the power level is stable. There's a whole load of other stuff I've not even looked at yet and this is just one mod. :shock:

It should have been simple...the words of an admin after spending hours tearing his hair out.
MP advised Tekkit users to perform a series of resets on their servers this afternoon, which would have been pretty simple if the damn server had come back up. I spent about an hour swapping server profiles around and resetting the world, but it is back to normal now. I then got a bucket load of errors when trying to connect to the server, I tried blowing away the appdata, fresh download of the app, clearing the cache... turns out you need to make sure you are running the latest version of the Tekkit launcher. It can be changed at the logon page by clicking the options button and specifying which version you want to use (2.1.0|1.1|Latest)if you don't it won't load the mods needed.

I'm sure glad I'm not admin anymore, I get enough technical aggravation at work.

I've encountered this problem after throwing a quick drilling rig together in the old Orhdege base camp;

But I don't know what that means and I need to go to bed. Over to you, Anery.

I've started making a new storage room at the Quarry that automagically sorts things into the right boxes, theres 2 deposit boxes, one in the room, and one upstairs :D

Please don't play with anything, remove any blocks to look at how it works though, its rather delicate, I set aload up and broked it myself. Will make it all viewable when I'm done :D

I don't know if it's since the teleporter, or the bit I built around the portal, but monsters seem to be getting into my base now. There were two skeletons in there last night and I think there is a spider there now (difficult to check over remote desktop). I really don't want a creeper to get in there and blow up millions of EMC worth of stuff. :cry:

NPCs can teleport as far as I'm aware, according to the industrialcraft wiki.

They might be spawning in the dark bits, like where there were some machines before, or in a corner. Maybe time to try out the magic keep monsters away torches.

It looks to be fine, but nobody can connect. I'm finding it tricky to diagnose because I can't even authenticate, let alone connect to the server.
