5punk Single Player Game of the Year 2011
It's the time of year for the 5punk awards again. Please nominate your entries for the Single Player game of the year. Nominees should be the best, or most 5punky, games which involve you squatting alone in your pants while shunning human company. Nominations end in a week or so or when I can be arsed setting up polls on this thread.

Pretty obvious, but Skyrim. There are others but I have a memory life a sieve and can only focus on the game I'm playing.

Has to be Skyrim. No other game has hooked me this year. In fact, every other game I was looking forward to has turned out to be an abject failure.

It's not a game from this year, but I've had a lot of fun on Just Cause 2, occasionally I see other 5punkers having a dabble as well.

Portal 2 and Deus Ex were both very good games, but I'm going to plump for Skyrim on this one. The freedom, the exploration, the scenery, the quests - even the glitches are hilarious. Even the trailer still gives me goosebumps:

I haven't played any Elder Scrolls games yet. I'm sure Skyrim's great, but I'm not about to buy it when I just want to play more BF3 instead.Roman Totale wrote:Portal 2 and Deus Ex were both very good games, but I'm going to plump for Skyrim on this one. Deus Ex was very good, but the ending left me a bit cold, and the bosses were disappointing. Still, one nomination there.
But Skyrim, of course. I can't see this being won by anything else this year.

I used to play Deus Ex like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee.

Oh Friz, you disappoint me with your use of internet memes. As if having it on every YouTube comments section wasn't enoughfriznit wrote:I used to play Deus Ex like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee.

Predictably, there are a lot of "Arrow in the knee" comments on that video.

I can't see beyond Skyrim for this, though I usually try to nominate something nobody else has, there doesn't seem to be a lot of point. I haven't had a chance to play Batman or Saints Row, but the latter, like Dragon Age 2 doesn't seem to be living up to its predecessor - one game that properly did though and I fully intend to go back to at some point is The Witcher 2.

Can't believe I forgot about that, prettiest game this year, and good too!FatherJack wrote: one game that properly did though and I fully intend to go back to at some point is The Witcher 2.
Re: 5punk Single Player Game of the Year 2011
Skyrim has to get my vote too I think. Day 'O Sex didn't really grab me with the gameplay, even though the setting is inspired. Skyrim turned out to be almost everything I'd been looking for in oblivion and Fallout 3. It still doesn't quite capture that living world feel, but it's close enough.

Re: 5punk Single Player Game of the Year 2011
Either I'm playing it wrong or it really is bastard hard. I just scrape through encounters with more than one or two enemies with mad kiting and use of potions. But it is bloody lovely to look at and has a great story.Mr. Johnson wrote:Can't believe I forgot about that, prettiest game this year, and good too!FatherJack wrote: one game that properly did though and I fully intend to go back to at some point is The Witcher 2.
Re: 5punk Single Player Game of the Year 2011
Still waiting for Steam to give me my Top 10 Wishlist items for free so I can play this. Spent too much on games recently, but TW2 and TW2:S (c wot I did there) are both on my list. Think I just missed getting Shogun for super cheap though...bugger.
