It's basically the lockpicking minigame from Fallout 3, which was pretty easy and mildly satisfying.

There are already mods out to help bypass it though.

My lockpicking's only fairly medium, but I can open pretty much anything - I put a few points in it and have a few bonus items, but the minigame's pretty easy. I can open Adept locks and even managed the Master lock in the Thieves Guild.

I rarely lose a lockpick, never more than two or three, just set the angle and quickly ping the barrel until it looks like it's close, then go for it. The sound helps a little bit too.

I fucking hated the lockpicking in Oblivion and just wasted loads of picks pressing 'auto'. I think Fallout wouldn't let you attempt locks that were 'too hard' for you, so I'm glad they got rid of that for this game.

I love lockpicking in this, I got my fancy dwarven greatsword from breaking into an expert chest at an early dungeon. I replaced it with Wuuthrad now though.

Also, I've;

-Become a werewolf
-decorated my house with witch heads http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/61496 ... 478819D06/
-Got me a nice steel plate armour with breasts, even though I took it off a male orc.
-Sat on the throne. http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/61496 ... E11F9823A/
-Am about to have a lesbian wedding.

And all that's just a fraction of everything I've been doing inbetween dragon slaying.

I take back everything I thought and said about this game, it's amazing.

Anyone else have a psychotic horse? On several occasions I've rescued some travellers from bandits only for my horse to kick them to death.

My horse does the same, and more frustratingly it keeps dying. Goddamn horses cost a lot of money you know.

While my copy has arrived, as I'll be buying new cpu/mobo/memory this week, I'm not going to install it yet, but I have a question:

Are horses that important in Skyrim? Can you not do what you could do in Oblivion and bounce around the landscape like you're recreating the film Flubber?

Absolutely, horses just make it a bit faster.

I've avoided horses - I don't want to miss out on any of the scenery. Plus it's quite fun picking off the local fauna.

I've not yet bought a horse for the same reasons as Roman. I don't doubt they'd be handy for escaping from chasing dragons, but where's the fun in that?! The horse and cart does fine for most journeys and fast travel if I absolutely can't be arsed walking. Would've missed some lovely Northern Lights action last night if I'd fast travelled though.

I've just spent the last hour rearranging my room. Stacking scrolls, putting nice weapons in display cases, trying unsuccessfully to put a helmet on a skull. And mounting my lovely staff:

That's amazing! Did Skyrim let you craft that, or is it just carefully perched on top?

My Lydia died quite early on as well, and so I took one of the companions as my buddy. She's completely fucking useless even after I gave here a decent armour and a glass axe.

Only in a video game can you give someone an axe made of glass and expect them to use it as a weapon.

The advantage in this game being that you can blame everything on wizards.

I haven't bothered with companions, as I don't really want any witnesses... I did have a dog for a while though, but he was an annoying little scrote, constantly "nudging" me from behind when I was trying to look at (steal) stuff, the dirty little bastard.

I've had the compulsory companions in quests, like the Companions dude, and they mostly sucked - even when they were unkillable as essential quest givers they still managed get beaten beyond the point at which they could fight back and kind of crouch/cower around.

I've now joined the Dark Brotherhood, so I'm even less likely to get a companion now - as they'll probably either nag me about doing bad stuff or clomp around in heavy armour ruining my stealthy approach. I heriocally killed a sleeping beggar by sniping him from on top of a hill, but am looking forward to better quests and getting to know the eclectic bunch that make up my new "family".

I tried to get into the mages college, but having spent zero points in magicking was unable to muster up the magicka to cast the spell required of me by the woman at the entrance. It was only after I went to bed that I thought I should have simply demonstrated my skill by blowing her off the bridge with a dragon shout.

I use Aela the Huntress, since she is an archer she usually stays out of the way and with a few enchanted items her arrows have quite a bite.

I love this game. Think I've reached the lofty heights of level 10 with my Redguard warrior/mage/archer, but I really need to pick a specialism of some kind as I will currently end up being ok at most things and great at none. Maybe my next character should be a sneaky thieving assassin, followed by a flame-wielding mage, but staying focused on any one thing is beyond me at the moment. Just walking to a dungeon to rescue a kidnap victim took me over two hours last night, what with running away from giants and clearing bandits from a fort.

Just perched on top. It would be awesome to be able to mount stuff on walls though. That cat mage would be going right on there. The bastard's dead meat as soon as I get him alone.

I saw someone say the same thing on another forum while trying to find out how to 'cancel' zombies (and thus create an easy way of transporting dead bodies). Apparently it's not glass in the normal sense, more like a form of ceramic. They just call it glass.

I just rode right past her on my horse. I couldn't get through the gate though.
