I hate Skyrim for wasting my money. I know I'll buy it because it looks awesome, and I know I won't like it because I didn't like Oblivion or Fallout 3. Even though I really want to like them. Curses.

I'm not sure why I liked FO3 so much and didn't really care for Oblivion, I wanted to enjoy it more. It was probably the dystopian, sci-fi setting in FO3, or maybe just that it had guns. I will also be spending money on Skyrim, but not totally confident I will enjoy it as much as FO3.
I didn't really like oblivion because I hated the whole portal closing business and the enemies that levelled up along with you (or something along those lines, it's been a long time ago)
What I don't get about Skyrim is how everyone goes on about how pretty it is, I think it doesn't look all that different from oblivion to be honest. Some of the character animations still look incredibly wooden and unnatural, a thing I'd hoped they stamped out. Games like battlefield 3 and the witcher 2 have spoiled me with their magnificent shiny eye candy though, so my judgement is somewhat unfair.

I just hope that the gameworld's points of interest (ie, Dungeons) aren't a copy-paste job like Oblivions were.
Although I am glad they don't all look like mutants like they did in Oblivion. I think Buzz kind of nailed it there for me, everywhere seemed so devoid realistic life, huge expanses of identikit dungeons and people who all looked the same and wandered about like zombies. It was the promise of a living world that disappointed me so much.

I'm torn between getting this on the PC or the Xbox. On the Xbox I know it'll work fine and look great, whereas on the PC I run the risk of it looking rubbish, but it then has the keyboard/mouse controls and all the customisable stuff for the future. Think I too might sweep it first to see how well it runs, then decide on my medium of choice for purchasing.
You could always buy both.
Eggsbawks now for playing the main game, complete it then trade it in. PC later on next year when the inevitable GOTY edition gets released for DLC and modding funzies.
